3. Does your job allow you to have a lifestyle you are happy with?
Yes, my job does allow me to have a very good lifestyle. The Apprenticeship is challenging and the job demands a high level of commitment but the career prospects are excellent. Questions about your current Job
4. How did you go about getting your current job?
I completed the four year Apprenticeship and on completion, I was offered a permanent position with Dublin Aerospace.
5. Describe a typical day?
Working as part of a team in a challenging environment. 6. What are the main tasks and responsibilities? Assisting approved engineers on the job, learning as you go and keeping up to date.
7. What are the main challenges?
Every day brings new challenges and this is what makes the job so interesting.
8. What do you really like about your job?
Working on live Aircraft alongside experienced professionals and learning all the time.
9. Is there anything you don’t like?
The Apprenticeship is challenging but success brings its own rewards. 10. What particular skills do you bring to your workplace? Positive attitude towards learning and working, a good team player and a desire to work with my hands. Questions about education and training
11. What subjects did you take in school and how have these influenced your career path?
Some of the subjects I completed in school included Maths, Science, Metal Work, Technology and Engineering. All of these subjects helped to give me a foundation during my Apprenticeship.
12. What is your education to date?
I completed my Leaving Certificate. I then went on to receive my CAT A EASA Approved Licence from the IAA after two years of the Aircraft Mechanic Apprenticeship with Dublin Aerospace. Last year I completed my 4 year Aircraft Mechanic Apprenticeship programme and gained my B1 Licence EASA Approved Licence from the IAA along with my Level 6 Advanced Certificate from Solas.
13. What aspects of your education have proven most important for your job?
Completing my leaving certificate and having the required subjects such as Maths, English, Science and Engineering to following my career path.
14. Have you undertaken, or do you plan to undertake any further training as part of your job?
Aviation like any other industry requires lifelong learning, if you want a rewarding career.
15. What have been the most rewarding events in your career so far?
Completing my four year Apprenticeship with Dublin Aerospace and gaining a CAT A Mechanic Licence after two years and in the 4th year on completion obtaining an EASA approved B Licence and a level 6 Advanced Certificate from Solas. This gives me a good salary and sets the building block to advance my career

17. What is your dream job or where do you see your career going?
My dream job is to be an Aircraft Engineer. I can achieve this by going on a type course and becoming an Approved Aircraft Engineer signing off my own work. Advice for people thinking of this job as a career choice
18. What advice would you give to someone considering this job?
If you like working with your hands and want to get the experience of working in a live Aircraft Environment and get the paid college experience an Apprenticeship with Dublin Aerospace is definitely the best option for you.
19. What are the three most important personal characteristics required for the job?
You need to be hardworking, show a willingness to learn and be a good team player.
20. What kinds of work experience would provide a good background for this position?
If you have experience, working with your hands particularly on machinery and using tools this will definitely stand to you.
