Working Life
The Makeup Assistant supports the Makeup Artist by researching, designing, and applying character-appropriate makeup, including effects like aging, illness, and prosthetics, based on the script.
Role and Responsibilities
- The Makeup Assistant works under the direction of the makeup artist, creating various looks and carrying out wide-ranging tasks.
- Break down the script with the senior makeup artist, research the characters and period in which the story is set, and create looks relevant to the story, character, and genre of the project.
- Apply makeup on the cast.
- Be able to apply makeup for particular effects, for example making someone look sick/well/younger/older, and creating prosthetics or wounds.
- Responsible for the set-up, maintenance, and storage of make-up workstations, assisting with maintaining stock levels, and booking supplies.
