The Trainee Editor carries out administration tasks like labelling media, organising and filing notes, and printing daily camera, sound, and continuity notes throughout production and post production.

Role and Responsibilities 

  • The Trainee Editor carries out various tasks under the direction of the editor and assistant editor.

  • Supporting the editor and assistant editor throughout the production and post-production stages.

  • They must learn about the functions of the department.

  • They must read the script prior to filming, and if necessary, ask questions to gain a full understanding of the story and project.

  • Responsible for performing administration tasks such as
    • labelling picture and sound files and camera sound and continuity notes.
    • filing away all notes in an efficient manner.
    • printing daily camera, sound, and continuity notes for all relevant parties.
