The Work
The 2D Supervisor will work closely with the CG supervisor and the VFX supervisor to ensure all elements of the final shot align with the director’s vision.
This is an important and senior role with very high artistic expectations, as this is where all VFX shots are finalised. It is a client-facing position, requiring careful management of expectations and timelines, since directors and VFX supervisors often have ambitious visions.
Role and Responsibilities
- Responsible for quality assurance by monitoring client notes and providing feedback to compositors toward final director approval.
- Collaborate with the VFX supervisor, CG supervisor, lighting supervisor, and pipeline and editorial departments to help define the compositing and colour pipelines.
- Evaluate the creative and technical approaches for complex compositing issues, aiming to optimise and standardise working processes across the project.
- Maintain continuous and efficient communication with the lighting team to ensure all renders meet the required artistic and technical standards.
- Work with production to ensure crewing, schedules, and delivery timetables are met, and that staff are suitably assigned and motivated.
- Responsible for show-wide compositing workflow documentation, mentoring, and information dissemination.
- Continuously familiarise themselves with new tools, software, and other advances related to the compositing pipeline.

Several years of in-depth experience with photo-real compositing, ideally in a leadership role, with expertise in compositing software and a thorough understanding of the full VFX pipeline.
A solid understanding of composition, cinematography, and editing.

A very strong aesthetic sensibility and an excellent artistic eye — able to tell when a shot “looks right.”
The skills to work effectively with clients, guiding them toward the best solutions that satisfy their briefs and budgets.

The capacity to identify potential issues and bottlenecks within the compositing workflow.
