Sport and Leisure Management at the Monaghan Institute is a one year full time Level 5 course suited to a social student. Successful students will have gained the knowledge to instruct people in the sports, coaching and leisure industry. During the programme students will complete a Certificate in fitness testing, instruct exercise classes, prescribe exercise, complete national and international qualifications. Learners will gain invaluable and first-hand exposure to the leisure industry during their work placements.
This course will give you a solid foundation in knowledge of the following sectors: Leisure, Sport & Fitness, Business Management and Human Resources and Tourism & Hospitality.

Learners will also gain an ITEC Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing and FAR (First Aid Response)
Entry Requirements:
Leaving Certificate with five O6 grades or equivalent is the standard entry requirement for Level 5 courses. LCA / or QQI Level 4 Award are also acceptable on most Level 5 courses.
Progression Opportunities:
Completion of this course leads to a QQI Major award and will provide progression opportunities to several Higher Education courses, including those in the CAO. To see these courses click here: 5M146.
Students may also decide to progress to a Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Health, Fitness and Sport Performance at the Monaghan Institute.
