BA in Stage Management and Technical Theatre Course Accepting Applications

These three-year honours degree at The Lir Academy is perfect for students who are interested in a career backstage and enjoy a practice-based learning environment. The course prepares students for many career paths including: Stage Management, Lighting Technology, Costume, Sound Technology, Prop Making, Set Construction, Scenic Art, Film & Production Management. 

Once you have completed the application form, our admissions manager will contact you to arrange an interview date and time within two weeks after submission. The interview is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your passion, ability and understanding of this training and the type of work it will lead to. No experience is necessary. The Bachelor in Stage Management and Technical Theatre Degree is not part of the CAO point’s race. Students are expected to have achieved the minimum matriculation requirements for Trinity College Dublin courses, however, exceptions may be made based on the demonstration of exceptional natural talent at auditions and interviews. Further information on the matriculation requirements can be found by clicking here.

MFA Application Deadlines Approaching 

Our Master of Fine Art in Playwriting, and Theatre Producing programmes are accepting applications. 

The Master of Fine Arts in Playwriting programme is a course in creative writing for stage, designed to encourage, nurture and promote the individual voice of the developing writer. The training culminates with the students writing a full-length play whilst being mentored by the Head of Playwriting, Graham Whybrow

The Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Producing programme is a distinctive, practice-based, one-year postgraduate degree, led by esteemed theatre professionals. 

The degree equips students of with the skills necessary to pursue a career in professional theatre and related industries.

Applications for 2025-2026 are open via the Trinity College Dublin portal, deadline is May 31st 2025.

Summer Courses at The Lir Academy for Young People

Our Summer Acting Camps are back! Designed for young people aged 13 - 15, each course provides professional drama training for young performers with a passion for acting. Join is for July Summer Camp or August Summer Camp

Our two-week summer Young Actors programme is open for applications, designed for young people aged 16 - 18 years who are interested in applying to The Lir Academy or similar drama academy. The programme introduces young performers to the reality of intensive training, replicating two weeks in the life of a full-time acting degree.
