Blackrock Further Education Institute is home to a one-year PLC course in Pre-Garda studies which provides an ideal foundation for those intending to pursue a career as a Garda by focusing on a number of areas that are of vital importance in the training and career of a Garda.
Students in this course will get an insight in to what life as a member of an Garda Siochana is like and will cover modules such as Legal practice, Criminal Law, First Aid Response and Anatomy and Physiology.
Along with these, Pre-Garda Studies students will also learn through a number of practical exercises and training events as well as a work experience module.
Completing this course will present students with a number of opportunities for progression including being placed in an advantageous position for a place in the Garda College in Templemore.
