BCFE Students in Action at General Election 2024
This past weekend, Ballyfermot College of Further Education (BCFE) students showcased their talents and gained invaluable real-world experience at the Dun Laoghaire count centre during General Election 2024. Content Creation & Photography student Eoghan Connelly and Radio student Eva Hanaphy worked alongside course coordinator Aisling O’Rourke for Newstalk FM, capturing the energy and emotions of the day. From heartbreaking losses to jubilant celebrations, our students were there, documenting history as it unfolded.
Separately, four Journalism students were contracted by RTE to report on GE24 throughout the weekend. Conor Prizeman, Tom Healy and Eimear Panoho reported from the count centres in Dublin West, Dublin Mid-West and Dublin Bay North respectively for RTE TV, RTE Radio and social media. Jack Whelan worked as a runner in RTE Montrose, handing scripts and tallies to Miriam O’Callaghan on live television. This was an amazing experience for them. They loved every minute. They learnt a lot and made some good contacts within RTE and more.
