Get up to speed with all things media with 5M2464 – Journalism, Digital Media and Public Relations at Dunboyne College of Further Education.

This one year level 5 course helps students develop the skills needed to be a modern journalist or public relations professional. Students will be taught how to work across multiple media types while learning traditional concepts of journalism. Students will learn about digital technology and the use of social media platforms to deliver new stories to a public audience.

The course is particularly suited to those with Linguistic and Investigative Career Interests.

During this course, which is full time, students will have the opportunity to study the following modules:

Entry Requirements:

  • Leaving Cert or LCA
  • Mature students of all backgrounds
  • Other equivalent qualification.

All applicants will be interviewed regardless of previous qualifications.

Progression Opportunities:

Graduates with this award can access the Level 8 degree in journalism at DCU, TU Dublin, University of Limerick and NUI Galway. Students can also access many other degrees at Universities and IT colleges or private colleges throughout the country such as Media Studies at Maynooth University and Multimedia, Communications Studies or Journalism at DCU. Graduates may also access other degrees at TU Dublin Blanchardstown, Tallaght and City Campus, SETU Carlow Campus, IADT and many more.
