O'Fiaich Institute Deputy Principal encourages learners to apply early to PLC & Pre-University Programmes

Ó Fiaich Institute Deputy Principal, Shane Williams has encouraged prospective learners to apply early this year for PLC & Pre-University programmes given the likely increased demand for places. PLC & Pre University programmes will provide additional options to learners in the current uncertain climate with courses having excellent links to both employment and higher education degree programmes. These programmes also contain a mandatory work placement within industry with learners gaining on the job skills in addition to their academic qualification.

Karen Cawley, Guidance Counsellor at OFI, encouraged all Leaving Certificate learners to apply for a PLC programme to keep their options open with the uncertainty around the Leaving Certificate and college progression at the forefront of many students minds at the minute. Karen indicated that "all learners should have completed a PLC application at this stage and we are finding that those learners who have applied have some peace of mind in knowing that they have secured a college place for next year which can take pressure and stress away from their Leaving Certificate exam".

So far, the demand for all courses is stronger than ever with many programmes oversubscribed at this stage.
