Master in Education Studies (Further Education) Programme

Marino Institute of Education is proud to announce the launch of the Master in Education Studies (Further Education) programme. This dynamic and innovative QQI Level 9 course aims to enhance learners’ knowledge and understanding of the Further Education sector, while also developing their research and analytical skills.

During year one of the programme, students complete 6 taught modules which explore and critique the theory, policy and practices associated with the Further Education sector. These modules blend live online classes with asynchronous independent units of study, so that learners benefit from engaging in lectures and discussions with their peers, while also studying and reflecting on their own. Within these modules, assessments are varied and include the use of educational technologies, discussion forums, and the creation of digital portfolios, essays, and group projects, among others.

In year two of the programme, students complete module on research methods which equips them with the skills necessary to carry out an independent piece of research in an area of enquiry relevant to their professional and personal interests within the Further Education sector. This module is assessed by the completion of a written dissertation, and students receive tailored and ongoing support from a research supervisor throughout the duration of their project.

All applicants to this programme should hold an honours bachelor degree or higher, and have a minimum of 3 years experience working within the Further Education sector. Given the fully online delivery of this programme, all applicants should also be self-motivated and comfortable with using technology for learning.
