Course Summary

This innovative 4-year degree, delivered in partnership between BCFE (Years 1 & 2) and IADT (Years 3 & 4), is designed to place students at the forefront of the next generation of filmmaking. The program focuses on Immersive Media and Virtual Production, blending advanced creative vision with deep technical expertise. Students gain mastery over specialized fields including Extended Realities (XR), Virtual Production—utilizing real-time engines to merge physical and digital worlds—and high-level post-production management.

Award Year 1 & 2: Ballyfermot College of Further Education (BCFE). Exit Award (Year 2): Higher Certificate in Immersive Media Production (NFQ Level 6)

Award Year 3 & 4: Institute of Art, Design & Technology (IADT). Exit Award (Year 4): BA (Hons) Immersive Media Production (NFQ Level 8)



About Tertiary Education Programmes

Launched in 2023, Tertiary Education Programmes are a new pathway to a bachelor’s degree. A joint further and higher education degree programme, tertiary education programmes begin in a local Education and Training Board Centre (College of Further Education and Training) and finish in a University. All tertiary education programmes lead to an NFQ level 7 or 8 degree.
