Course Summary

This course is designed to give applicants the academic skills and competence to succeed at undergraduate level, the confidence to progress into a professional programme and the opportunity to undertake a rewarding career in nursing.

Incorporating the Level 5 Nursing Studies and the BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing, this innovative programme gives students the opportunity to start their preparation for the Mental Health Nursing degree programme in the FE sector leading to direct access to the third level college.  Students will spend the first year of this programme in Oughterard Further Education & Training Centre (GRETB), and then progress to ATU’s Mayo campus to undertake their four-year Nursing programme

About Tertiary Education Programmes

Launched in 2023, Tertiary Education Programmes are a new pathway to a bachelor’s degree. A joint further and higher education degree programme, tertiary education programmes begin in a local Education and Training Board Centre (College of Further Education and Training) and finish in a University. All tertiary education programmes lead to an NFQ level 7 or 8 degree.
