This course seeks to provide those seeking employment or staff working in the equine sector the opportunity to gain a recognised higher level qualification. Developed in consultation with the equine industry the course provides up to date theories and principles relevant to equine science and business management practices. Whilst this course has practical elements, it does not develop practical competencies but can support participants with and without practical experience.

Career Interests

Naturalist
Not surprisingly, some aspect of the natural sciences will run through the Naturalist's interests - from ecological awareness to nutrition and health. People with an interest in horticulture, land usage and farming (including fish) are Naturalists.
Some Naturalists focus on animals rather than plants, and may enjoy working with, training, caring for, or simply herding them. Other Naturalists will prefer working with the end result of nature's produce - the food produced from plants and animals. Naturalists like solving problems with solutions that show some sensitivity to the environmental impact of what they do. They like to see practical results and prefer action to talking and discussing.
Career Progression
Graduates may have the opportunity to progress on to the full-time Foundation or BSc (Honours) Degree programmes delivered by CAFRE, subject to meeting course entry requirements.
Career options include equine business owners/managers, technical advisers, horse trainer, sales representatives and a range of jobs in the service and related industries.
