The purpose of this course is to introduce students to a range of practical design skills required for work in the thriving Film, TV and events sector. DSC Film and TV department has always valued the role of set design and this course builds on the expertise and experience gained over the years. Set Design for Film and TV will explore settings, characters, make-up and props through a dynamic mix of creativity and problem solving.
The course covers the fundamentals of the design process from script breakdown to finished design solutions. The focus is on practical, hands-on learning through project based work. As students respond to briefs they will develop confidence in their creativity through visual research, set design, character design, make-up effects, prop design and construction. The course will equip students with technical skills such as drawing, model-making, drafting, CAD, construction and painting finishes.
