Entry Requirements
Registered or eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
Educational qualification at NFQ level 8 in Nursing, with a minimum of 2:2 award (official copies of transcripts of results MUST be supplied with your application).
For Non-EU applicants:
Registered or eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
Minimum 2.2 award classification in BSc (Hons) or equivalent NFQ level 8 in Nursing
A sufficient level of English to study in Higher Education:
Verify that the medium of instruction for their Bachelor was English or meet one the following minimums
IELTS 6.0 (no less than 5.5 in any 1 band)
PTE Academic 50
Occupational English Test (OET) 250 overall with no less than 200 in any one skill
What is RPL?
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is when formal recognition is given for what you already know prior to starting on a programme or module. With recognition of prior learning the focus is on learning and not on experience as such. You can apply for RPL in any MTU accredited programme or module. Programmes which are accredited by professional bodies or any external awarding bodies may have their own procedures for RPL which you should refer to.

The Social person's interests focus on interacting with the people in their environment. In all cases, the Social person enjoys the personal contact with other people in preference to the impersonal dealings with things, data and ideas found in other groups.
Many will seek out positions where there is direct contact with the public in some advisory role, whether a receptionist or a counsellor. Social people are motivated by an interest in different types of people and like diversity in their work environments. Many are drawn towards careers in the caring professions and social welfare area, whilst others prefer teaching and other 'informing' roles.
Investigative
The Investigative person will usually find a particular area of science to be of interest. They are inclined toward intellectual and analytical activities and enjoy observation and theory. They may prefer thought to action, and enjoy the challenge of solving problems with sophiscticated technology. These types prefer mentally stimulating environments and often pay close attention to developments in their chosen field.
Career Progression

This Master's will prepare you for the next steps on your career journey. Some nurses will progress to Advanced Nurse Practitioner status and will be seeking exemptions from the modules already completed in the MSc in Professional Nursing, others will progress to teaching undergraduate nursing and more will continue to undertake their PhD's in the field of nursing and/or healthcare.
Progression
PhD in Nursing or Healthcare. Graduates from the MSc in Professional Nursing progamme will have achieved the outcomes necessary to progress to study at NFQ level 10.
