Course Summary

Applications are invited for this intensive one year full time conversion course for non-accounting graduates wishing to pursue a career as professional accountants.

Holders of the award receive significant examination exemptions from the main professional accountancy bodies operating in Ireland and will be well prepared for the latter stages of their programmes. (Details of exemptions will be found in the relevant accounting body’s literature or website.)

Entry Requirements

Minimum Entry Requirements?
Applicants should hold an honours bachelor degree (minimum of 2.2 honours or better) in a discipline other than accounting. Due to competition for places on the programme, firm offers will be made to candidates on an 2.1 or higher and offers will be made to 2.2 graduates should there be places available.

If English is not your first language you will need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency as detailed on our website. Applicants for this course should have a minimum IELTS (Academic Version) English Proficiency of 6.5 overall (or equivalent) with nothing less than 6 in each component.

Note: Due to the considerable competition for our postgraduate courses satisfying the minimum entry requirement is not a guarantee of a place. Depending on the course of study applications will be assessed based on your academic grades and may also take into account your work/life experience. Applicants may also be required to attend for interview for specific courses.

What are my career opportunities?
Graduates of the PgDip Accounting get a full exemption from CA Proficiency 1 (CAP1) examinations of Chartered Accountants Ireland subject to performance in specific modules in the programme. Graduates also get exemptions from modules F1 to F9 inclusive of the ACCA syllabus, the maximum exemptions allowable, subject to performance in specific modules in the programme.
