Entry Requirements
Applicants must hold an honours NFQ level 8 qualification (minimum level 2nd class honours) in Agriculture/Wildlife/ Environmental Science or a related discipline. The University’s policy in relation to recognition of prior learning (RPL) also applies.
All applicants are required to have a high level of proficiency in English to fully participate in the programme, applicants who have concerns in this regard should contact [email protected] to discuss.
What is RPL?
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is when formal recognition is given for what you already know prior to starting on a programme or module. With recognition of prior learning the focus is on learning and not on experience as such. You can apply for RPL in any MTU accredited programme or module. Programmes which are accredited by professional bodies or any external awarding bodies may have their own procedures for RPL which you should refer to.

Fees
Fees do not apply to applicants who meet the Springboard+ initiative funding criteria (see Eligibility). For employed applicants the HEA will pay 90% of the programme fee, the remaining 10% – €540 will be payable before registration. For applicants who do not meet the Springboard+ eligibility criteria, the fee is €5,400.

The Investigative person will usually find a particular area of science to be of interest. They are inclined toward intellectual and analytical activities and enjoy observation and theory. They may prefer thought to action, and enjoy the challenge of solving problems with sophiscticated technology. These types prefer mentally stimulating environments and often pay close attention to developments in their chosen field.
Career Progression
On successful completion of the programme students will have gained 60 credits at NFQ level 9 which may contribute to the achievement of other academic awards e.g. pathway for Master of Science qualification.
Duration
This programme will be delivered in a blended format part-time from January 2025 to December 2025. Workshop dates will be available shortly.
