Who are the people who most influenced your career direction?
Family run company so family has had a huge influence on job choice.
How did you go about getting your current job?
Came back to Ireland from Scotland during COVID. I was working for festivals in Scotland and an opportunity arose in my family business which I couldn't turn down at that time.
Describe a typical day?
My job is very diverse. A standard day would include CRM, sampling, finances, payroll, orders, food health admin (health certs etc), logistics, general business admin.
What are the main tasks and responsibilities?
Company finances, payroll, staff management/admin, orders, customer relationship management, general admin, invoicing, marketing, PR, health & safety, Irish Aviation Programme Management, Logistics.
What are the main challenges?
Frequent market changes, with many price fluctuations. Impact of weather on culivation of shellfish, especially the rising sea tmeperatures and uncertainty surounding this. Increase in E-coli in waters and the effects this will have in the future with increaing population and housing in coastal areas.
What do you like most?
It allows me to live in Sligo on the northwest coast where job oportunities don't arise that often.

Administration skills, marketing skills, CRM skills, knowledge on the shellfish cultivation business.

Does your job allow you to have a lifestyle you are happy with?
Yes, running your own company has it's ups and downs but I have the freedom to work semi-remotely and my job also includes travel. Downside is that you are always working.
