Details
The Irish Defence Forces are hosting an Open Day at Collins Barracks, Cork on:
• Wednesday 25 March, 6pm to 9pm
• Thursday 26 March, 10am to 1pm
Entry is free and open to the public. No booking required.
There will be a large Naval Service presence alongside the Army, Air Corps, and Reserve Defence Forces. Students will be able to talk directly with serving personnel about what the different career paths actually involve.
Currently open roles include:
• Naval Service General Service Recruit (no formal qualifications required, ages 18 to 39)
• Direct Entry trades for qualified electricians, engineers, carpenters, radio technicians, and chefs
• Reserve Defence Forces (part-time service)
This could be particularly relevant for Transition Year, 5th Year, and Leaving Cert students who are exploring career options beyond the CAO. It is also a good opportunity for students who may be interested in "earn while you learn" pathways with fully funded qualifications.
