Supporting Your Child

Children and teenagers absorb so much of what they see, hear and experience as they grow up. It is important to understand that the example parents set and the values that they show to family, friends and society are often adopted by their child. Likewise, the amount of interest shown and the (healthy) expectations that parents have for their child’s education and career are also key influencers in preparing them for a rewarding career. Other factors that a parent should consider to help their child towards a fulfilling career are:

• Encourage them to get the best education/training as possible. Try to foster good decision making skills and help them to become skills-oriented

• Encourage your child to understand the value of being a responsible, respectful citizen. In today’s modern, globalised world it is vital that we value both cultural diversity and gender equality
