Screen Producers Ireland (SPI) and Gaiety School of Acting are proud to announce its partner scholarship aimed at providing financial support for students pursuing a career in acting at the renowned Gaiety School of Acting. The scholarship will cover the equivalent of full student fees for an individual accepted onto the prestigious Two Year Actor Training Programme enabling aspiring actors to pursue their passion without the barrier of financial constraints. As part of its ongoing commitment to fostering inclusivity and diversity within the screen production sector, SPI is supporting this initiative to ensure that aspiring actors from underrepresented backgrounds have the opportunity to receive world-class training at Ireland’s premier drama school. The SPI scholarship is designed to eliminate financial barriers, enabling students who have been historically marginalised or lack the necessary resources to follow their passion for acting. This initiative reflects both organisations’ commitment to creating a more inclusive, equitable, and representative environment within the screen and performing arts sectors. “Screen Producers Ireland is delighted to begin our partnership with the Gaiety School of Acting
through this scholarship,” said Susan Kirby, CEO of Screen Producers Ireland, “Empowering new voices is essential for a truly inclusive and representative screen industry. This scholarship represents one facet of SPI’s sustained commitment to fostering diversity within the industry and we look forward to seeing this come to life.” This scholarship is being made available for one recipient within our Two Year Full Time Actor Training Programme. The All Ireland Scholarship Scheme is administered by the Department of Education & Skills and funded by J.P. McManus. No applications are necessary for the All Ireland Scholarships as they are awarded based on the Leaving Certificate exam results.  They are available to first-time Leaving Certificate students who have been exempt from paying the Leaving Certificate exam fee and who have attended non-fee paying post primary schools.

The Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and
Science (DFHERIS), AIS plus SUSI work together to identify eligible
candidates and they are then sent a letter of offer. This happens after
the Leaving Certificate results are published and students have applied
for the SUSI grant and have been awarded said grant.

For students in Northern Ireland, there is an application process, which
is detailed here: https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/all-ireland-scholarships

The All Ireland Scholarships was first proposed by JP McManus when he expressed a strong desire to provide funds for the establishment of a third level education scholarship scheme covering the thirty-two counties of Ireland.

In the ROI, you do not apply for the scholarship, as explained here:
https://www.allirelandscholarships.com/information/am-i-eligible/

He was also conscious of the cross border dimensions of the proposed scholarship programme and stated that the All Ireland Scholarships scheme should operate on a similar basis North and South.
