When the necessary skills development opportunities are not available physically in Ireland, the Bursary Award allows bursary recipients to participate in in-person or online international skills development programmes, workshops, and structured work programmes to assist their professional development. The purpose of the scheme is to expose industry practitioners to the best skills development expertise and work situations internationally in person or online. In all cases, bursaries are awarded to ensure professional development and skill enhancement in line with international work standards and best practice. Screen Ireland offers three types of bursaries to applicants:
  • Funding to attend full time courses and workshops abroad.
  • Funding to participate in a structured work programme within international companies and organisations. The work programme can be designed by the individual to specifically match their skills development needs.
  • Funding to participate in a substantial international online skills development programme.
This scheme is for industry professionals working in the Irish film, television, animation, and related sectors with a minimum of three years’ full-time experience relevant to the job area of the applicant. For screen writing bursaries, applicants with one year of experience will be considered if they have obtained development funding from Screen Ireland, the MEDIA Programme, or a national broadcaster for a feature length film script or a television series. This award scheme is for a skills development programme or a work programme/placement relevant to the applicant’s area of work only. In cases where an applicant is planning a career transition within the industry, the application must clearly demonstrate the applicant’s commitment to the planned career change.

    If you use the Change of Mind facility via CAO, you must also inform DkIT of your new DkIT course choice list. (You need only specify the DkIT courses that you have applied for.)

The Teagasc Authority approved the introduction of means testing of maintenance grants for students attending Further Level Courses at Teagasc and Private Agricultural Colleges in 2012. Means testing will apply to Teagasc Level 5 and Level 6 full-time courses for the academic year. Teagasc student maintenance grants are paid through Teagasc and the grant scheme is managed by Teagasc.  The Teagasc grant scheme will be implemented along the lines of the National Student Grant Scheme but varies in respect of what ‘add backs’ are used to determine overall reckonable income. The Teagasc/UCD Knowledge Transfer Masters Programme has been developed specifically to build the competencies for careers in agricultural advisory and education services whether in the public or private sector. Applications are invited from graduates with a minimum 2.2. Honours BAgrSc (or equivalent) degree. Applications from graduates with pass level degrees coupled with significant and appropriate work experience in the sector will also be considered. There are two programme options available to candidates:

Masters in Agricultural Innovation Support

The aim of this programme is to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to be effective in building the capacity of farmers to adopt new practices and technologies. The experience gained on this programme will position participants well for future roles in advisory services, technical consultancy and education delivery. This Masters programme is predominantly by research (25% taught modules) and runs for 20 months (September – May). The programme includes a 14 month placement in a Teagasc advisory office or education centre. Each year applicants are presented with a list research topics to choose from. Successful candidates will be assigned a Teagasc and UCD-based thesis supervisor.

Masters in Agricultural Extension and Innovation

This is a two year taught Masters programme where complete modules for 90 credits (ECTs) while on professional placement for the duration of the programme. Modules are designed to support learning through assignments and projects focused on student’s professional placement using real life problems and challenges. On completion of this programme, students will be competent and professional agricultural advisors, committed to on-going reflective practice and seeking more effective ways to support farmer decision making. Students will be able to develop and deliver appropriate agricultural advisory and educational programmes that serve the needs of farmers and farm families. Students will adopt the skills to reflect critically on their practice as agricultural advisors and educators and be able to identify and exploit needs and opportunities for improved practice. Our panel of experts will award a number of bursaries to exceptional current ETB learners to support their future study, entrepreneurship or community activism. Bursary will include €5,000+ and professional support. Shortlisted learners must be available to attend national event in Thomond Park 14th March. The purpose of the ETBI bursaries is to support exceptional current learners in ETBs across the country in pursuing their education and training journey, entrepreneurship, or community activism and further develop their skills. Through these bursaries we aim to provide learners with the time and resources to research, think, and critically engage with the next steps of their learning journey. The bursaries will be awarded to learners who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to their respective fields, possess a proven track record of excellence, and can outline a compelling vision for how the bursary will support them on their journey. This bursary is designed to empower and encourage individuals who have shown exemplary dedication to academic pursuit, creativity, innovation, or community. Applicants for the ETBI bursary must:
  • Be a current full-time or part-time student at an ETB school / College/ Centre of Further education and training.
  • Be sixteen years of age, or older. (If applicant is under 18, parent/ guardian will need to confirm consent)
  • Be a resident in the Republic of Ireland.
  • Demonstrate a clear passion for and commitment to their subject matter, relative to the selected bursary.
  • Provide evidence of relevant projects, extracurricular activities or work related to the field of study of the selected bursary and evidence of their commitment to it.
  • Include details of relevant experience, internships, research projects, education and any notable contributions to the community or academic field, to date.
  • Present a compelling and articulate vision for how the bursary will contribute to the applicant's future goals, and outline career aspirations, plans for further education, or any initiatives that demonstrate a commitment to making a positive impact.
  • Provide 2 referee contact details, one of which must be their School/ College Principal or Centre Manager.
Applicants will be invited to submit the following details: · Background (e.g. Description of education, work experience, life path to date.) · Relevant projects, extracurricular activities or work related to the field of study of the selected bursary and evidence of commitment. · Innovation: Summary of any innovative elements of their work or study · Vision for the future and how the bursary will be used.
