The Coillte Forestry Scholarship for UCD students studying the BAgrSc Forestry degree programme.

The Coillte Forestry Scholarships will award two students from two colleges up to €20,000 for the duration of their degree programme. The scholarship is open to Leaving Certificate students and mature students who are planning to attend one of the eligible forestry undergraduate courses at UCD and SETU.

Applications are open from 1st February to 28th April 2024 and the award will be made in Autumn 2024.

Each scholarship recipient will also be offered the opportunity of paid summer employment in Coillte from first year onwards as well as an option to join Coillte once third level education is successfully completed.

The School of Law and Government invites applications for the Scott Scholarship in association with Arthur Cox. This scholarship is named in memory of the late Frank Scott, a partner with Arthur Cox. The firm have been pioneers of life long legal education and this scholarship supports students who wish to pursue an LLM at DCU and intend to pursue a career as a solicitor. The scholarship will provide fees and a stipend for the one year duration of the programme.

The LLM Programme

The LLM (Master of Laws) at Dublin City University (DCU) is a one year full time programme which prepares a new generation of lawyers with the practical, research, and written skills needed for careers in law (including as a solicitor). With a focus on clinical legal education, the programme is discussion based, with student-led, deliberative seminars in small group settings. It also aims to develop critical thinking, oral and advocacy-based skills. Modules offered include: Legal and Socio-Legal Research Skills, Contemporary Legal Issues in Commercial Practice, Medical Law and Bioethics, European Employment Law, EU Institutional Law. There are five streams on the LLM Programme:

Selection criteria: The scholarship will be assessed on academic achievement and the evaluation of applicants’ potential to contribute to the wider legal community, and to pursue a career as a solicitor. Frank Caul and James Byrne (a TU Dublin graduate) joined forces in 1989 to form the Sirus Group which operates across Ireland and mainland Europe, and employs almost 100 people, many of them Building Engineering students from TU Dublin. The SIRUS Scholarship for Engineering is for passionate and motivated students who will make their mark on the built environment. Introduced in 2017, it aims to encourage more students to consider the field of Building Engineering and to help meet the industry’s urgent recruitment needs. 2020 Scholarships were awarded to  Cian McDonnell and John McKenna 2021 Scholarships were awarded to Muireann Farrell and Caleb Griffins Applications for the Sirus Scholarship will open in October.
