The Academy will then contact these students at the end of July/start of August and invite them to apply to the Academic Programme. Please note, you cannot apply directly to the Academy for an academic scholarship as a current student of UCD. You must receive an invite from the Academy to apply. It is your programme area that nominates students who are eligible to apply.

Minimum eligibility criteria are listed below and further programme specific criteria may apply:

  • A minimum stage GPA of 3.68 is required.
  • The student must have obtained 60 graded ECTS and meet the progression requirements of their programme

UCD offers three Sport Scholarship programmes, each designed to support students in achieving excellence both academically and athletically:

  1. Ad Astra Elite Sports Scholarship (managed by the UCD Ad Astra Academy)
  2. UCD Sport Scholarship
  3. Graduate Sport Scholarship

These scholarships are for students who wish to compete and succeed at the highest sporting levels while completing a degree at UCD.

Applications are made entirely online. Links to apply will appear in line with the opening and closing dates for entry listed below. Please note that late applications cannot be accepted under any circumstances.

The UCD Sport Scholarship operates independently of the Ad Astra Elite Sports Scholarship (managed by the UCD Ad Astra Academy). However, applicants to the Ad Astra Elite Sports Programme may choose to have their application transferred to the UCD Sport Scholarship if unsuccessful. This can be done by ticking the relevant consent box on the Ad Astra application form. A separate application is not required in this case.

The Graduate Sport Scholarship is specifically for postgraduate students who continue to compete and succeed at the highest sporting level - both nationally and internationally - while pursuing further study at UCD.

Please see the section links here for more information on each of the three Sport Scholarship programmes offered at UCD.
