Who should consider this Masters Programme?

The Teagasc/UCD Knowledge Transfer Masters Programme has been developed specifically to build the competencies for careers in agricultural advisory and education services whether in the public or private sector. Applications are invited from graduates with a minimum 2.2. Honours BAgrSc (or equivalent) degree. Applications from graduates with pass level degrees coupled with significant and appropriate work experience in the sector will also be considered. There are two programme options available to candidates:

Masters in Agricultural Innovation Support

The aim of this programme is to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to be effective in building the capacity of farmers to adopt new practices and technologies. The experience gained on this programme will position participants well for future roles in advisory services, technical consultancy and education delivery. This Masters programme is predominantly by research (25% taught modules) and runs for 20 months (September – May). The programme includes a 14 month placement in a Teagasc advisory office or education centre. Each year applicants are presented with a list research topics to choose from. Successful candidates will be assigned a Teagasc and UCD-based thesis supervisor.

Masters in Agricultural Extension and Innovation

This is a two year taught Masters programme where complete modules for 90 credits (ECTs) while on professional placement for the duration of the programme. Modules are designed to support learning through assignments and projects focused on student’s professional placement using real life problems and challenges. On completion of this programme, students will be competent and professional agricultural advisors, committed to on-going reflective practice and seeking more effective ways to support farmer decision making. Students will be able to develop and deliver appropriate agricultural advisory and educational programmes that serve the needs of farmers and farm families. Students will adopt the skills to reflect critically on their practice as agricultural advisors and educators and be able to identify and exploit needs and opportunities for improved practice. Bursary will include €5,000+ and professional support. Shortlisted learners must be available to attend national event in Thomond Park 14th March. The purpose of the ETBI bursaries is to support exceptional current learners in ETBs across the country in pursuing their education and training journey, entrepreneurship, or community activism and further develop their skills. This bursary is designed to empower and encourage individuals who have shown exemplary dedication to academic pursuit, creativity, innovation, or community. Applicants for the ETBI bursary must:
  • Be a current full-time or part-time student at an ETB school / College/ Centre of Further education and training.
  • Be sixteen years of age, or older. (If applicant is under 18, parent/ guardian will need to confirm consent)
  • Be a resident in the Republic of Ireland.
  • Demonstrate a clear passion for and commitment to their subject matter, relative to the selected bursary.
  • Provide evidence of relevant projects, extracurricular activities or work related to the field of study of the selected bursary and evidence of their commitment to it.
  • Include details of relevant experience, internships, research projects, education and any notable contributions to the community or academic field, to date.
  • Present a compelling and articulate vision for how the bursary will contribute to the applicant's future goals, and outline career aspirations, plans for further education, or any initiatives that demonstrate a commitment to making a positive impact.
  • Provide 2 referee contact details, one of which must be their School/ College Principal or Centre Manager.

The Eileen O’Mara Walsh Scholarship Programme celebrates the life and achievements of Dr. Eileen O’Mara Walsh. Eileen’s family, in conjunction with Dublinia, a not-for-profit organisation celebrating it's 30th anniversary in 2024, wish to mark her contribution to the Tourism industry by supporting future generations. Eileen O’Mara Walsh was a prominent figure in the Irish tourism industry for nearly four decades. She was the first woman to chair the board of a commercial State company, Great Southern Hotels, the founder and first chairwoman of the Irish Tourist Industry Confederation, and chairwoman of Forbairt, now Enterprise Ireland, for five years. Her many other roles included director of Aer Lingus, chairwoman of Opera Ireland, governor of St Patrick’s Hospital, a trustee of the Medieval Trust and Dublinia, and a member of the International Women’s Forum. In 2006 she received an honorary doctorate from Dublin Institute of Technology for her contribution to the Irish tourism industry.
The Scholarship will support one student on one of the following 1-year Masters’ in Tourism Management programmes:   Application Process & Criteria  Applicants must be accepted into one of the listed courses, and subject to commencing their place on the course, they will receive the award. Failure to enroll disqualifies the student from receiving the scholarship, which triggers the application process for a new Eileen O’Mara Walsh scholar.   Selection  The interview panel will include TU Dublin Academic leaders in Tourism, a representative from Dublinia, and a member of the O’Mara Walsh Family if desired.    Value  Scholarships are valued at €4,000 and will be paid in full to the student by bank transfer from TU Dublin Foundation.  Ongoing Scholarships  If the successful recipient fails to achieve the required academic results or ceases to participate in the course, they will no longer receive the scholarship and a new application process will commence.  Publicity and reporting   Scholars may be required to take part in PR activity and to support TU Dublin Foundation in their communication with the donor. This includes (but not limited to) being available for photographs, writing a report and allowing the use of your photograph and story to promote the scholarship programme.

The Maria Wallace Foundation - MSc. Fashion Buying and Management Scholarship 2026

This Scholarship will cover fees, and an allowance for living expenses, during the student’s time in the course. The successful candidate for the scholarship must be someone who has exceptional potential to succeed but would not be in a financial position to complete the Masters without the support of the scholarship. The School of Law and Government invites applications for the Scott Scholarship in association with Arthur Cox. This scholarship is named in memory of the late Frank Scott, a partner with Arthur Cox. The firm have been pioneers of life long legal education and this scholarship supports students who wish to pursue an LLM at DCU and intend to pursue a career as a solicitor. The LLM Programme

The LLM (Master of Laws) at Dublin City University (DCU) is a one year full time programme which prepares a new generation of lawyers with the practical, research, and written skills needed for careers in law (including as a solicitor). With a focus on clinical legal education, the programme is discussion based, with student-led, deliberative seminars in small group settings. It also aims to develop critical thinking, oral and advocacy-based skills. Modules offered include: Legal and Socio-Legal Research Skills, Contemporary Legal Issues in Commercial Practice, Medical Law and Bioethics, European Employment Law, EU Institutional Law. There are five streams on the LLM Programme:

Traveller Apprenticeship Incentivisation Programme

There are 3 streams to the Programme.

Stream 1

€3,000 bursary for 25 Travellers who are employed as new apprentices. This would be in addition to their agreed remuneration for the apprenticeship they register for and could be reckonable for tax purposes.
€2,000 incentive payment for the employers of the 25 Traveller apprentices, per apprentice. This would be subject to de minimis State aid rules.

Stream 2

€3,000 bursary for 25 existing Traveller apprentices. This would be in addition to their agreed remuneration for the apprenticeship they register for and could be reckonable for tax purposes.

Stream 3

€3,000 bursary for 25 Travellers to access pre-apprenticeship and Access to Apprenticeship programmes. This would be in addition to any other remuneration they receive and could be reckonable for tax purposes.

You can claim tax relief on qualifying fees (including the student contribution) that you have paid for third level education courses. The qualifying fees must be paid for an approved course at an approved college. Other charges and levies do not qualify for relief such as:
  • Administration fees
  • Student centre levy
  • Sports centre charge
  • USI (Union of Students in Ireland) levy.
You may be the student, or you may pay the fees on the student's behalf. However you can only claim the relief if you are the person who actually paid the fees. The maximum amount you can claim is €7,000 per course, per person, per academic year.  Each claim is subject to a single disregard amount of €3,000 or €1,500 each tax year. The first €3,000 is disregarded for of a full-time student or €1,500 for of a part-time student. If you have paid fees for more than one student, this disregard amount will only be deducted from your claim once.
