The DCU Faculty of Engineering and Computing is delighted to announce, that it will again be supporting the development of female leadership in the STEM sector, by offering a scholarship to an eligible female. This year, there will be one scholarship available for one of our masters programmes within the faculty for students studying on a part-time basis, starting in September 2025. The 30% club scholarships aim to advance female leadership and increase diversity in organisations.  This scholarship will cover the full cost of a master's programme and will be awarded on a competitive basis. The scholarship is awarded in conjunction with the 30% Club. Globally, the 30% Club is establishing partnerships with Universities to rectify the under-representation of women at senior levels in organisations, particularly apparent in the STEM sector. One of the mechanisms being employed to achieve this is by supporting women to undertake postgraduate technology courses. DCU Global have announced a new scholarship opportunity for Brazilian students looking to pursue a postgraduate programme in one of the world’s leading Young Universities.  Scholarships will be awarded to high calibre students from Brazil (Brazilian Citizens currently residing in Brazil) who will work as student ambassadors for both their course and DCU during their studies.

DCU Business School invites applications for a PhD scholarship for a researcher based in the Work, Psychology and Strategy group. The scholarship is open to applicants who will register in Year 1 of the full-time PhD programme in DCU Business School in 2025.  The following scholarship type will be awarded: A scholarship with an annual stipend of €22,000 per annum (for a maximum of four years); payment of PhD fees (for a maximum of four years); and up to €5,000 to support research activity (over the four year period). 

Each year, under the Access DCU Entry Route (ADER) scheme, DCU offer a small number of en suite study bedrooms free of charge and at 50% discount in the on-campus student residences to students living outside the commuting distance of DCU.

Such students are eligible to apply if their financial circumstances are such that it would be extremely difficult for them to take up their university place. If successful, the room on campus is guaranteed for the first year of the student's studies only.

This scholarship is available for Non-EU applicants who have received an offer to study on eligible postgraduate programmes in the DCU Business School. Successful recipients will receive a €900-€1,400 fee reduction on the full-time 2025–2026 Non-EU Tuition fee.
All Non-EU applications to a postgraduate programme in the DCU Business School are automatically considered for this bursary. Successful recipients of the bursary will be notified via email.

DCU offers partial merit-based scholarships to some non-EU students. You are automatically considered for a scholarship when you apply as a non-EU student to DCU. We’ll let you know if you have qualified for a scholarship when we contact you to advise if your application to study at DCU has been successful.

DCU Business School and The Liffey Trust will award one scholarship to a DCU Business School student who commenced their studies in September and is studying the LIFE module. Value e3,000 a year.

DCU Business School offer the Excel Scholarship Scheme to external graduates who have received a first honours degree and are applying to a DCU Business School postgraduate degree.

The Google Insight Scholarship programme is the largest scholarship programme of its kind in Ireland. With a funding package of 1.5 million euro, more than 60 undergraduate students will receive scholarship support between 2024-2029.

This merit based bursary is available for high achieving Non-EU applicants that have received an offer to study on a postgraduate programme in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Successful recipients will receive a €2000 fee reduction on the full-time 2025–2026 Non-EU Tuition Fees for your postgraduate programme. All Non-EU applications to a postgraduate programme in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences are automatically considered for this bursary. Only successful recipients of the bursary will be notified via email.

The Intel Women in Technology scholarship program offers a monetary grant, valued at €3,000 per annum, as well as opportunities for work placements at the Intel Leixlip and Shannon campuses. Each scholar is also assigned a mentor who is an Intel employee to assist and provide advice on managing their academic career. Congratulations to Ciara O'Reilly, a third-year Mechatronic student at DCU Faculty of Engineering & Computing, who was awarded €3,000 by Intel in 2022 as part of their Women in Technology awards.

The KickStart Scholarship Fund was established in 2022 by the Irish Probation Service with the support of the Irish Prison Service. It aims to support people with a criminal justice history who face financial challenges in accessing higher education. In September 2022, the scholarship was developed on a pilot basis and offered by Dublin City University, Maynooth University, Dundalk Institute of Technology and Technological University of the Shannon Midlands Midwest, Athlone Campus (MEND Cluster). Thanks to the continuation of the pilot project for a third year, DCU has awarded one scholarship of €5000 per year and is now offering a second scholarship of €1250 for each year of undergraduate study, up to a maximum of €5000 over 4 years for a full-time course or 6 years for a part-time course. There is a two-stage assessment process of screening and interviews. All applicants will be screened for eligibility and prioritisation. The highest-ranked applicants will have their supporting documentation verified and invited to interview. Each interview panel will select the two successful scholarship awardees. Scholarship awardees must comply with the fund guidelines and progress to the next academic year of their course to retain the scholarship. Applications are open now for this scholarship and will close on Friday, 7th of February 2025.

The McAleese Scholarship, named in honour of former President of Ireland, Mary McAleese and former Chancellor of DCU, Dr Martin McAleese, is targeted at high calibre DCU applicants with a permanent home address in Northern Ireland

The Naughton Scholarship for Leaving Certificate students is a reward for exceptional students who would like to study in the STEM field at University. This programme was established in 2008 to promote the study of engineering, science and technology at third level in Ireland. Leaving Certificate students from any county in the Republic of Ireland are eligible to apply. The school of each winning student also receives a prize for the school's science labs.  For information on how to apply, see here.

The School now has an opening for two funded PhD scholarships (across a four-year duration). As well as a tax-free stipend of €25,000 plus fees, we also support our students with funding for conference travel and paid teaching experience as part of their career development.

The School of Law and Government invites applications for the Scott Scholarship in association with Arthur Cox. This scholarship is named in memory of the late Frank Scott, a partner with Arthur Cox. The firm have been pioneers of life long legal education and this scholarship supports students who wish to pursue an LLM at DCU and intend to pursue a career as a solicitor. The scholarship will provide fees and a stipend for the one year duration of the programme.

The LLM Programme

The LLM (Master of Laws) at Dublin City University (DCU) is a one year full time programme which prepares a new generation of lawyers with the practical, research, and written skills needed for careers in law (including as a solicitor). With a focus on clinical legal education, the programme is discussion based, with student-led, deliberative seminars in small group settings. It also aims to develop critical thinking, oral and advocacy-based skills. Modules offered include: Legal and Socio-Legal Research Skills, Contemporary Legal Issues in Commercial Practice, Medical Law and Bioethics, European Employment Law, EU Institutional Law. There are five streams on the LLM Programme:

• LLM General Pathway
• LLM European Business Law
• LLM International Human Rights Law
• LLM Public Law
• LLM in Policing, Crime and Security

Selection criteria: The scholarship will be assessed on academic achievement and the evaluation of applicants’ potential to contribute to the wider legal community, and to pursue a career as a solicitor. The adjudication panel will consist of members of the School of Law and Government and Arthur Cox Solicitors. Applicants are required to submit a CV, and a personal statement (maximum two pages). Personal statements should include the following:

• Why you wish to study this programme
• What in your record and experience makes you suitable for the LLM programme
• The impact you expect the LLM and this scholarship would have on your future
• How this scholarship would benefit your career as a solicitor
