This Short Course aims to expand the student’s knowledge about and skills for developing a positive healthy outlook on their physical and mental wellbeing. It also provides students with the skills to engage with services and members of their community
This Junior Cycle Level One Learning Programme requires approximately 100 hours of learning.
This Short Course has three strands:
Strand 1: Keeping well. In this strand, students identify people, places and signs in the community that support their physical wellbeing and safety.
Strand 2: Looking good. Students learn of the importance of taking care of their personal appearance and the steps that are involved in doing so including how a healthy diet can contribute to physical wellbeing and appearance.
Strand 3: Being great. This strand focusses on students learning how to develop positive mental wellbeing. Students develop self-esteem, self-confidence and identify techniques which promote mindfulness as well as how to keep themselves safe.
