To be honest, in secondary school, I thought I was going to be a teacher so at that time social care wasn’t on my radar. We didn’t have CSPE or SPHE when I was in school. I think it was more life experience that influenced my career path.

I am maybe not the best person to ask this, as I am a school dropout. My life experience has been the biggest thing to influence me to go in this direction, as before I was always a little bit lost, and now I have found my passion.

In school I would have done Woodwork (materials technology) along with Technical Drawing and Construction Studies. I found these subjects were great backgrounds to have studied when doing an apprenticeship as they developed technical skill and knowledge in all aspects of construction.
