What subjects did you take in school and how have these influenced your career path?
I studied business in college because I wanted to build a strong foundation and broaden my knowledge across different areas. I always knew I wanted to work in events. The business degree gave me valuable insights into marketing, finance, and project management, all of which have been incredibly useful in my career as an event manager. It was a strategic choice that supported the path I knew I was passionate about.
What subjects did you take in school and how have these influenced your career path?
My choice of subjects didn’t directly affect my career path but Geography helped. You only needed a junior cert when I chose my career, although I did the Leaving Cert. I did the Deckhand Course to start which included safety training and an introduction to most of the skills required. Most training is done on the job. I then did the 2nd hand full certificate of competency (Skipper) which you needed to start as a Skipper on a boat. I don’t think I would have changed my education choices.
What subjects did you take in school and how have these influenced your career path?
I did my HR degree after I had been working for a few years and think that was a really good decision as I picked up so much more than if I had done it before having any work experience. I qualified as an Executive and Leadership Coach about 18 months ago and I really recommend that as a skillset and toolkit for anyone in my line of work.
