IFI Transition Year Work Experience
The Irish Film Institute offers work experience opportunities for students in Transition Year who are interested in film and arts programming, management, education and marketing. Participants will work with the IFI Schools team to assist with screenings, writing film reviews, design social media graphics and much more.
Note: Work experience at the IFI does not include practical filmmaking.

Festivals, Events & Opportunities for Young People
Young Irish Film Makers: The National Youth Film and Animation School
A 10-day residential filmmaking and animation workshop in Kilkenny for pre-college students aged 16-19. At the end of each course, students will have produced a high-quality piece of work for their showreel or college portfolio.

Fresh International Film Festival
Fresh Film organises the annual Fresh International Film Festival in Limerick each March and selects “Ireland’s Young Filmmaker of the Year” from thousands of entries. Fresh has given a platform to thousands of young filmmakers and is interested in helping many more young people discover and develop their talents through film.

First Cut! Youth Film Festival
First Cut! Youth Film Festival is an annual event based in Youghal, Co. Cork dedicated to showcasing new films by young filmmakers. It presents films in all genres by individual filmmakers, schools and youth groups as well as offering workshops and talks by film industry professionals.

IFI Careers in Screen Day
The IFI Careers in Screen Day is aimed at young people aged 15-18 interested in exploring a career in the screen industry. This is a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from industry professionals working on some of the most exciting productions in Ireland and take part in creative filmmaking workshops with mentors.
