Careers can be catagorised by Career Zones, from Level 1 to Level 5. This will depend on a combination of factors including the level of experience and education required for the job.

  • These occupations require little or no previous work-related skills and may require a Junior or Leaving Certificate.
  • These occupations usually require a Leaving Certificate or training at NFQ Level 5 and may require some related work experience.
  • These occupations require job specific training (e.g. an Apprenticeship) or several years work experience, or vocational training at NFQ Level 6.
  • These occupations mostly require several years of on-the-job experience, or education in a relevant area to NFQ Levels 7 or 8 (degree level).
  • These occupations require years of specialist training, or education to NFQ Levels 9 or 10 (Masters or Ph.D Level)
