A head person (traditionally referred to as Head Lad/Lass) is the supervisor of the stable staff team in a racing yard and responsible for the smooth day to day running of a yard.  The role is responsible for planning and scheduling the daily tasks in the yard ensuring a high standard of work is maintained by the stable staff team and that they are appropriately trained and developed and general care of thoroughbreds.

Scientists who specialise in the study of birds, which includes their behaviour, ecology and conservation. They survey a proposed wind farm site and assess the risk for any potential impacts on birds.

Responsible for the transportation and care of horses on national and international trips

Dog wardens are responsible for the collection and impounding of stray dogs. They may also intervene when people or animals are under threat from attack, from dogs.

Supervises departmental staff and monitors the implementation of various Government schemes relating to Agriculture, Food and Forestry.

Trains and instructs people to ride and care for ponies and horses at a stables.

An assistant trainer is responsible for assisting the trainer with the daily care and conditioning of the horses in their yard to prepare them for competition on the Racecourse and the supervision and training of the stable staff team.  They also set out the training schedules, liaise with owners and help with the overall running of the business.

A grounds person works as part of the racecourse team to ensure that the racing track is kept in premium condition, this involves maintaining a safe racing surface, applying nutrients or pesticides, cutting grass and dealing with issues caused by the weather such as a waterlogged track. On race days they replace divots after each race.

A Farrier is a skilled craftsperson who combines blacksmithing skills with equine studies  and specialises in making and fitting shoes for all types of horses.

Specialises in identifying faults, repairing, overhauling and maintaining farm tractors and farm machinery.
