The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the causes, range and effects of intellectual disabilities to develop an awareness of the importance of a social model of support and the role of various professionals in responding to the needs of persons with an intellectual disability.

The degree in Interaction Design provides you with the skills and knowledge to think creatively about how we interact with the technologies that surround us and to develop designs that are people-centred in innovative ways.

The BSc in Interaction Design is a unique course that provides its students with a combination of essential skills for thinking, understanding and designing FOR people WITH technology. Graduates emerge with the critical and creative expertise to design meaningful interactions for people. The course includes an industry placement and focuses on how to design through an iterative practice of experimentation and reflection.

From apps and websites to connected products and wearable technologies, Interaction Design is about designing the way people communicate and interact at home, work or play. Interaction designers explore the relationship between people and technology to design digital products, apps, user experiences and services. Interaction designers create the future, and shape the digital products of tomorrow. 

Interior architecture involves the design of interiors of buildings, their layout and space planning, fitting, technical and structural resolution, furnishing and decoration, and the preparation of all technical drawings and written documentation necessary for the carrying out of the work.

The design work of interior architecture includes domestic, commercial, leisure, retail, educational, healthcare and cultural interior projects. Interior architectural design encompasses many types of interiors and utilises accompanying skills. 

This course examines contemporary practice in interior architecture and teaches you about our architectural heritage, how buildings work, and how to create high quality spatial experiences. It involves the design of interiors of buildings, their layout, fitting, furnishing and decoration, and the preparation of all technical drawings and written documentation necessary for the carrying out of the work.

This degree programme has been designed in response to an increased demand for employees with specific skills relating to Interior Architecture including spatial planning, design detailing, technologies, problem-solving and visualisation techniques and presentation skills.

The course takes students through the fundamentals of visual culture, building science and design principles and equips them with practical studio skills.

The Interior Design Higher National Certificate Level 6 provides an opportunity for students to create exciting, dynamic and innovative commercial interior environments. Learners will be introduced to contemporary design concepts as well as the necessary technological and organisational skills.

The HNC is a specialist vocational programme with a strong work-related emphasis.The course provides learners with all the practical skills to allow progression directly into employment or to access the HND Level 6 Programme.

This course takes the student from initiation through to successful completion to produce an Interior Design graduate who can create, design, problem solve and act professionally in all related working environments. Successful Interior Design graduates are industry ready, and creatively and technically proficient to propose innovative solutions and problem-solving expertise within the built environment.

This course will provide you with the knowledge, skills and competences to create interiors in line with client specifications including presentation drawings, materials specification, lighting, furniture proposals and construction detailing.

Learners who successfully complete Year 2 will be awarded a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Interior Design (6M5127).

Interior Architecture and Design is a profession that explores new ways to create inspiring interior environments within the built environment, promoting sustainability through creative re-use of space. Whether it’s developing an existing space or creating a new one, interior architects design comfortable homes, functional workspace and inspirational public spaces that consider architectural forms, environmental impacts, and psychological and cognitive components of the space. Our students develop their designs and hone their skills under the guidance of experienced architects and interior designers.

Interior Architecture and Design is all about manipulating and forming an internal space, whether it be an existing or new building. Our Interior Architecture and Design programme focuses an environmentally conscious approach to the re-use, re-imagination and innovative re-invention of the existing built environment with a strong focus on sculpting interior space. Our graduates are skilled in responding creatively to both the Interior Architectural aspects of place, heritage and building as well as interpretation of client’s identity and design needs.    

This course is all about the art or process of designing the interior decoration of a room or building, and how we experience spaces and the objects in them. It’s a powerful, essential part of our daily lives that affects how we live, work and play. Exciting recreational environments, unique domestic spaces, functional workplaces, inspiring retail spaces, that’s interior design at work.

This studio-based programme consists of modules that are primarily assessed through design projects, coursework and assignments.

Programme content is concerned with the study of interiors through analysis, research and intervention. Through understanding the needs of the client, respecting the existing situation, and researching the specialised area, it allows the student to respond with relevant, innovative and creative solutions.

The programme uses the design project as the central vehicle for learning and aims to stimulate and provoke imaginative responses to the reuse of interior spaces. Projects address domestic, commercial, hospitality, community, social and user-specific interior briefs.

This course provides students with a creative and exciting programme of study required for a career in interior design. Graduates from this programme will be qualified and professionally suited to pursue careers in related fields including residential and commercial renovations, office and commercial fit-outs, retail branding and facade design, design for the hotel, leisure and tourism industries, and sustainable design.
