This course is run in conjunction with Brennanstown Riding School.

The focus of the course is to develop the skills to work in the equine industry, while at the same time developing learners’ personal, interpersonal, and workplace skills. The content includes a range of vocational modules including stable and yard routine, equine nutrition, equine anatomy and physiology, sport horse riding, animal welfare and core modules in work experience, customer service and maths.

The course is designed to provide professional education and training to learners who love horses and have a particular interest in gaining employment in the equine industry in a variety of roles. The course will enable them to pursue a career in the equine industry or continue their studies at higher and/or third level.

The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to develop the knowledge, skills and competence in a broad range of equine skills to work in a variety of equine sectors under supervision, or progress to further education or training.

In North Connaught College our students will be facilitated to explore Horsemanship with a view to re-skilling/up-skilling and exploring concepts and subject areas that may interest the learner in future programmes or employment.

Graduates will be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of equine breeding skills and pasture management together with theoretical and abstract thinking concepts related to breeding horses, horse conformation and pasture management. This award is designed to enable students to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to work in a supervisory role in a stud or to progress to further or higher education and training.

The QQI Level 6 award in Equine Breeding is classed as an advanced certificate and meets the requirements for The Green Certificate and Young Trained Farmer status.

The ESE Academy (E-Cubers) has partnered with the University of Limerick (UL) to deliver Ireland’s first Equipment Systems Engineering apprenticeship at level 9 (MEng).

This Apprenticeship programme provides experienced engineers with a comprehensive framework to manage the implementation of Industry 4.0 innovations in their employer’s equipment. This two-year MEng, in conjunction with vibrant Communities of Practice (CoP), provides an ideal framework for the apprentice to comprehensively and efficiently evaluate both disruptive and sustaining innovation solutions. After they have qualified as Equipment Systems Engineers (ESEs), learners will be able to remain engaged with the CoPs throughout their long and productive careers.

In this four-year course, you’ll acquire practical and theoretical skills in all aspects of event management. This 3-year degree programme builds the fundamental knowledge and skills of students for a career in the events industry, by mixing event modules such as Event Risk Management, Event Project Management, Event Production & Design, Event Fundraising & Sponsorship and Event Operations Management, with a solid foundation of business focussed modules in areas of marketing, financial management and entrepreneurship.

This one year add-on Honours Degree follows on from the Degree in Event Management to give students an in-depth knowledge of the Event and Hospitality industry and generate superb employment opportunities. Progression links to relevant degree courses are also an option open to successful graduates. In particular, on completion of this course, students may apply for advanced entry into Year Two of the BSc Event Management (Honours) degree course in TU Dublin , subject to interview.
