This course offers a foundation in the field of Sports Physiotherapy. If you aspire to a career as a Sports Physiotherapist or specialist, this course can be your stepping stone to Higher Level study.

You will develop foundational skills and knowledge in subjects relating to Sports Physiotherapy, both theoretical and practical. You will also learn about the science underpinning the practical application of various treatments. This course provides an excellent foundation in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries, and will prepare you for progression to Higher Level study.

This course focuses on the prevention, assessment and diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries related to physical activities. 

Students who undertake this one-year course in Pre-Physiotherapy studies will gain an understanding of the principles and practices of rehabilitation and an insight into how to assess and treat clients whose movement is restricted by illness, injury, disability or age. Students will gain the skills needed by the HSE to work in the healthcare sector, which will help them to understand therapy programmes and support clients in restoring or improving their mobility.

Practical classes will be timetabled on-site at Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena and the National gymnastics Training Centre at Sports Campus Ireland Campus.

This is a 2-year full-time diploma PLC course in Sport, Exercise, Health, Nutrition, Rehabilitation and Sports Psychology. It offers you the opportunity to study for a diploma in all areas of Sports Science. This course can act as a standalone qualification, or it can act as an access course where it can offer you an excellent opportunity to progress to one of our degree link courses. In some cases, advanced entry may be possible.
