This course offers a foundation in the field of Sports Physiotherapy. If you aspire to a career as a Sports Physiotherapist or specialist, this course can be your stepping stone to Higher Level study.

You will develop foundational skills and knowledge in subjects relating to Sports Physiotherapy, both theoretical and practical. You will also learn about the science underpinning the practical application of various treatments. The purpose of this award is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence in a range of sports, recreation and exercise activities to work independently and under supervision in a variety of sports related contexts and or to progress to higher education and training.

This is a broad Sports and Leisure course that will enable students to demonstrate and apply a range of skills and knowledge in a variety of Sports and Recreation contexts. Students will acquire the knowledge and practical skills required to assist in the running of a Sports and Leisure Facility. 

Students will be provided with a basic understanding of Recreation theory and health concepts in a variety of subject areas.

This course focuses on the prevention, assessment and diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries related to physical activities. 

Students who undertake this one-year course in Pre-Physiotherapy studies will gain an understanding of the principles and practices of rehabilitation and an insight into how to assess and treat clients whose movement is restricted by illness, injury, disability or age. Students will gain the skills needed by the HSE to work in the healthcare sector, which will help them to understand therapy programmes and support clients in restoring or improving their mobility.

Practical classes will be timetabled on-site at Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena and the National gymnastics Training Centre at Sports Campus Ireland Campus.

This is a 2-year full-time diploma PLC course in Sport, Exercise, Health, Nutrition, Rehabilitation and Sports Psychology. It offers you the opportunity to study for a diploma in all areas of Sports Science. This course can act as a standalone qualification, or it can act as an access course where it can offer you an excellent opportunity to progress to one of our degree link courses. In some cases, advanced entry may be possible.

This BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy, gives you the opportunity to qualify and work as a professional sports therapist with the option to progress to a master’s in Physiotherapy and become a qualified physiotherapist.

This course aims to provide learners with the skill necessary to work in the sports and recreation/sports therapy industries. Sports therapists provide a valuable service to the sports industry, specialising in the prevention and management of soft tissue injuries through manual massage techniques and electrical treatments. This course will also provide learners with the theoretical and practical knowledge to work in the fitness industry or to study at a higher level.

Stu­dents will study a range of sub­jects, with a particular emphasis being placed on anatomy, physio assistant theory and sports massage. Throughout the Sports Therapy and Physiotherapy Assistant (Year 1) course, students will be required to work alongside a variety of sporting organisations as part of their course work

Learners on this programme also have the opportunity to coach in local primary schools.

Featuring work placements, industry trips, and Erasmus+ opportunities, it prepares students for careers in leisure centers, health clubs, and professional coaching.

The aim of this progarmme is to equip students with a range of practical skills and theoretical knowledge required to progress to further training in several areas including the Health Sciences, Rehabilitation, Health Nutrition and Sports and Exercise Science in a range of higher certificate and degree programmes.
