This full-time one-year programme delivered provides a solid foundation in Sport, Recreation and Exercise. The programme aims to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence in a range of sports, recreation and exercise activities to work independently and under supervision in a variety of sports related contexts and or to progress to higher education and training.

The course is a mix of business, sports and leisure theory and applied modules providing you when you graduate with a wide range of competencies and attributes that you will find valuable working within the Sports, Leisure and associated sectors.

You will study topics such as Communication, Marketing, Intercultural Competence, Leadership in Health Activity and Nutrition, Entrepreneurship, Leisure Law, and Facilities Management. Graduates will build the attributes and competencies required to work in the field.

Our Bachelor of Science in Sports & Exercise with degree award options: Performance or Physical Education, is a four year programme that combines your passion for sports with a successful career progress through the course. Studying sport or exercise at third level is an opportunity to harness your passion and combine it with the knowledge to build a wonderful career in either sports performance or physical education studies. The first two years provide the core foundation of the degree, while the last two years allow you to specialise.

This programme allows you to use a scientific approach to analyse performance in sport and exercise and to develop academic and professional skills which you can use to find employment in this expanding field. Science subjects studied include physiology, biomechanics, psychology and nutrition.

This course develops analytical leaders with the problem-solving skills to drive innovation within the community and commercial sport sectors. The sports and exercise elements of the course develop professional and leadership skills in activities enjoyed by the general population throughout their lifespan.

This course gives students the academic, physical, technical, tactical & psychological knowledge necessary for the demands as a student athlete with particular emphasis on soccer coaching. Students will gain the knowledge base and practical experience required by a health fitness professional in today's leisure industry. Successful students will be proficient in areas such as screening, fitness testing, programme development, class instruction and the general day to day running of a gym or leisure centre. They will acquire the relevant knowledge in anatomy, physiology and nutrition to ensure they are competent in their delivery of safe and effective fitness programmes.

This course aims to introduce students to Sport Studies, provide a practical and theoretical foundation to fitness training. Enable students to acquire National Governing Body (NGB) Coaching qualifications in a number of sports. Provide a foundation for students wishing to study Sports and Recreation at a higher level.

he BSc (Hons) in Sports Coaching provides students (aspiring coaches) with advanced coaching techniques, styles, and education through a variety of sports (e.g. team, individual, outdoor pursuit), including inclusivity and disabilities. This multidisciplinary programme will ensure students learn effective coaching techniques and have a scientific understanding of anatomy, physiology, sport psychology, fundamentals of movement, talent development, and the ability to analyse and critique technique. All these skills will be learnt through a variety of different coaching environments.

The BSc (Hons) in Sports Coaching and Performance is a four year honours degree programme that provides students with an advanced sport science education embedded with an applied coach education.
