Global Business: A global degree for a global career.

The Global Business with Pathways degree is an innovative programme, designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of global business, valuable intercultural experiences, and high quality work placement opportunities. This degree provides you with a distinctive undergraduate experience designed around a broad and flexible curriculum with subject choices that will help you to understand how business decisions are undertaken in a globalised world. Subject pathways in which you can specialise as part of your global business degree include accounting, data analytics, sustainability, marketing, and enterprise.

This degree equips students with the essential knowledge and critical skills needed to understand Irish, EU and global political systems, globalisation, international relations and global development. Complementary subjects such as history, geography, sociology and optional language studies broaden understanding further.

Global Studies invites students to ask how a deeply connected world has come into being, why barriers and divisions remain and how ‘local’ relates to ‘global’. We ask how people experience and make sense of globalisation, as an opportunity, challenge and threat. We analyse the impact people have on the global environment. We give students the skills, historical background, cultural context, and linguistic knowledge, to live and work in globally connected societies. This is the only undergraduate Global Studies degree available in Ireland.

The programme is designed to broaden and deepen the knowledge and skill base of graduates of the Level 7 Supply Chain Management degree. This programme will also appeal to Business, Engineering and IT graduates who have some experience in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

The BA Government (Politics, Economics and Law) will enable you to better understand public affairs and emerging critical issues and to develop the skills necessary to make a real difference in your chosen career path, whether in public, private or voluntary and non-profit sectors. 

Political science is the study of governments, public policies and political processes, systems and political behaviour. You will gain analytical and practical skills, invaluable in today’s competitive employment market. 

The course will provide learners with the skills, knowledge and values to meet the demands and challenges of working within a GP Practice and to contribute to patient experience, patient flow through the practice and practice efficiency.

This course aims to prepare students to support GPs to expand their practice by assisting the Practice Nurse and medical/admin staff. This course will equip the learner with the knowledge and skills required for this new role as identified by the Health Service Executive.

the BA (Honours) in Graphic and Digital Design will provide you with a unique and exciting educational experience while learning to become a designer. You’ll be encouraged to follow your passion and to develop your design process through research and experimentation. At the same time, you will be exposed to a host of new, exciting disciplines and skills that will enhance your critical and theoretical thinking to help you advance your skills as a conceptual and strategic graphic designer. 

The BA in Graphic Communication Design is a three-year Level 7 degree that equips you with the creative, technical, and strategic skills needed to thrive in a fast-paced design world. You’ll explore everything from branding and digital media to consumer culture and visual communication, all while building a future-ready portfolio.

The BA (Hons) in Graphic Communication Design is a dynamic three-year degree that combines creative exploration with industry insight. You'll develop your own design voice while gaining the skills and strategy needed for today’s visual communication landscape.

Graphic Design is an internationally recognised programme that demonstrates how communication design is socially, culturally and economically engaged across a broad spectrum of media platforms and technologies.

This innovative programme, with a unique focus on complex and diverse real-world problems, combines the best principles of traditional, new, and emergent graphic design practices to produce highly employable and entrepreneurial graduates with transferable skills that are much sought after by industry.

This programme has been developed to provide students with a range of skills and qualities required by graphic designers within the industry.

The programme introduces students to design thinking and idea generation. Through practical studio based projects an understanding of the design process is cemented. 

This is not a CAO entry course - course fees required - apply directly to the college.

Graphic Design Level 5 (5M1995) is a practical 1 year course that will enable learners to engage with key Graphic Design, Art and Design and ICT components. Key practical components are delivered in a highly resourced Art, Craft and Design room and Apple Mac Lab.

Learners also have the opportunity to develop a high quality portfolio of work for use in accessing higher education courses and will have access to Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator licences.

It is an intensive, one-year foundation course designed for creative thinkers and visual storytellers. Whether you are a student looking to build a high-quality portfolio for university entrance or a mature learner seeking a career pivot, this course provides the essential technical and creative building blocks. From the logos on our coffee cups to the interface of our favorite apps, students learn how to take a raw concept and transform it into a compelling visual message using industry-standard tools and design principles.

Graphic design is a vehicle for communication as well as self-expression. It is about communicating visually in order to inform, educate, entertain or persuade. Graphic designers provide creative, visual solutions for anything from magazine layout to packaging design.

Students will produce a portfolio of design work, including posters, magazine layouts, logo design, book illustration, drawing and more.

You will be encouraged to explore and express your ideas through a variety of media while developing your own unique and individual approach to visual problem solving.

This course is ideal for learners with an interest in art and design, a love of drawing and sketching (although this is not necessary) and an interest in learning how to use digital design software.

The BA in Graphic Design course will provide you with a unique and exciting educational experience while learning to become a designer. Your creative talents will be nurtured by a team of lecturers who are passionate about their field. You’ll be encouraged to follow your passion and to develop your style. At the same time, you will be exposed to a host of new exciting disciplines and skills that will enhance and inform your work.

This course prepares learners for a rewarding career in the creative industries. All learners have access to computer design facilities using industry standard software from Adobe Creative Cloud- Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects and Dreamweaver. Learners study a range of project-based modules, learn design principles and develop creative problem solving skills. Final year learners will exhibit their work at our end-of-year exhibition in the Institute.

You will explore the Graphic Designer’s role in the context of branding, marketing, advertising and communication and develop practical skills in visual language, drawing, mixed media, illustration, design and image making. Using professional standard iMac suite, you will create projects to develop your skills within logo design, concept development, image creation, photography, product placement and much more. You will build on these practical creative skills and generate and evolve ideas to finished projects. In addition, you will produce a portfolio of work for progression to Higher Education and your future career, becoming proficient in the Adobe suite of software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and more), building on these skills for real live projects and your art portfolio.
