This course aims to prepare students for employment in Human Resource (HR) departments in a wide variety of companies throughout Ireland. Most major companies have an HR department, and smaller companies usually have an employee whose job is to look after HR issues such as recruitment, staff training and development, labour law, the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees, and other general Industrial Relations issues.

The specialist HR related modules of this course provide a comprehensive introduction to the theories and applications of HR. This enables graduates to seek immediate employment in a range of HR departments. The PLC Access course is aimed at learners coming directly from a Youthreach or Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA) course. This bridging programme allows learners to experience college life in Monaghan Institute in a supported environment, while completing Level 4 and 5 modules. Learners can sample the course areas they are interested in progressing to in Monaghan Institute. Learners may be entitled to a training allowance and supports including access to a laptop to help them complete the Access course. The Access course is designed to find the most suitable course for you while developing your academic Skills

This General Learning Programme aims to provide a foundation in subjects which students may wish to study at Third Level. It also introduces students to methods of study, writing skills and research skills that are required for successful participation in Third Level education. While graduates of this course may apply to any Third Level Institute, Plunket College of Further Education is a partner to the Trinity Access Programme (TAP). Our students visit Trinity College to engage in a number of “taster activities” throughout the academic year, including library visits, a student shadowing day and attendance at a number of lectures.
