Geography is the study of Earth’s landscapes, peoples, places and environments. Fundamentally it is about the world in which we live. Geography offers a 21st century education by uniquely bridging the social sciences (human geography) with the natural sciences (physical geography). Human geography focuses on understanding the dynamics of cultures, societies and economies, while physical geography focuses on understanding the dynamics of physical landscapes. 

History

The History modules at Trinity allow you to study a remarkable range of types of history – whether cultural or political history, military or social history, environmental history or the history of ideas – from the early Middle Ages to the very recent past.

In Trinity, a Geography degree also covers increasingly important environmental issues where humans affect physical environments and vice versa.

Political Science

Political Science will appeal to students who are excited about exploring the background to current events, the nature and use of power and how decisions are made that impact on wider society. If you are interested in having an in-depth knowledge of public affairs, developing critical and much sought after research skills and if your career interests lie in journalism, public service, teaching, public policy, international organisation and/or business then Political Science may be for you

Within the Modern Languages programme you study two modern European languages to degree level. It is the most intensive exposure to languages and cultures that Trinity College has to offer. You can choose between French, German, Irish, Italian, Russian and Spanish. Apart from French and Irish all languages can be studied from both advanced and beginners level.

They will enable you to acquire a high level of language competence and fluency, combined with an in-depth understanding of the main cultures and societies in which these languages are spoken.

The BA (Hons) in Business aims to provide learners with the fundamental skills of business and create, in the learner, a diversity of cross-enterprise skills necessary in today’s competitive and evolving market. Learners will also acquire insight into sub‐fields of business and increase their knowledge and skills in the specialised areas of Management, Project Management, Human Resource Management, Information Systems, Cloud Computing, Psychology, Global Business, or Law, depending on the electives they choose.

For prospective pilots, the ability to complete flight training together with an honours degree provides the student with a unique opportunity to take a blended approach to becoming a professional pilot.

The key benefit of this programme is undertaking a programme that trains you as a pilot while also developing your business skills. Years 1 and 4 are mainly business and Years 2 and 3 are mainly aviation.

The Global Business with Computing degree is an innovative programme, designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of global business, computing, valuable intercultural experiences, and high quality work placement opportunities. This degree provides you with a distinctive undergraduate experience designed around a broad and flexible curriculum with subject choices that will help you to understand how business decisions are undertaken in a globalised world. Subject pathways in which you can specialise as part of your global business degree include accounting, data analytics, sustainability, marketing, and enterprise. By studying Computing as a minor, you will develop skills in managing the business’ computer hardware, network operations and cyber security. If you are interested in developing a career in global business where analysing, developing and securing the business operating networking systems is a component, then BSc (Hons) Global Business with Computing is the course for you.

If you wish to develop a career working in management of theatre or the creative industries, then this course if for you.

This programme provides a supportive learning environment, where the course team are leaders in their respective fields with strong industry and education links in both teaching and research. The degree has a strong focus on experiential learning with a combination of academic expertise and industry experience that focuses on business within the global economy. The Global Business with Irish degree is an innovative programme, designed to provide students with the opportunity to take Global Business as a Major subject with Irish as a Minor subject. Studying language and literature is a great option if you want to develop a career in business where the Irish language is a component. By studying Irish as a minor subject, you will develop excellent written, conversational and interpretative skills.

This course provides students with the opportunity to explore the world of Global media. It focuses on developing the skills required to work in the world of online journalism and gives students a critical understanding of the dynamic media environment, which increasingly shapes and influences our society and our lives.

This degree equips students with the essential knowledge and critical skills needed to understand Irish, EU and global political systems, globalisation, international relations and global development. Complementary subjects such as history, geography, sociology and optional language studies broaden understanding further.

Global Studies invites students to ask how a deeply connected world has come into being, why barriers and divisions remain and how ‘local’ relates to ‘global’. We ask how people experience and make sense of globalisation, as an opportunity, challenge and threat. We analyse the impact people have on the global environment. We give students the skills, historical background, cultural context, and linguistic knowledge, to live and work in globally connected societies. This is the only undergraduate Global Studies degree available in Ireland.

The programme is designed to broaden and deepen the knowledge and skill base of graduates of the Level 7 Supply Chain Management degree. This programme will also appeal to Business, Engineering and IT graduates who have some experience in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
