This course allows students to develop a broad range of specialised knowledge and skills in audio and music technology, sound engineering and production.

Students will gain hands-on experience in studio work, music and sound tracking, audio mixing and mastering, sound design, Foley, composition, song writing and post-production for TV and film in our high-spec studios and multimedia editing suites. A series of live events throughout the academic year will allow students to gain experience in live sound and lighting techniques whilst developing the necessary skills required in organising and staging events.

The BA (Hons) in Audio Computing is a response to the growing industry demand for graduates with music and audio programming skills and a solid understanding of sound synthesis and audio processing techniques.

Our Audio Production and Music Project Management course offers students the unique
opportunity to develop their skills in the field through industry-based, professional projects. While working on these real-world projects, students engage in both advanced audio production and music project management, greatly broadening employability.

These projects are an integral part of Sound Training Productions: a recording and production company (led by graduates and students) which offers unrivalled, unique opportunities and links with key contacts in the music industry.

This course focuses on documentary production and story-telling, communication through waveform and music, creation of soundscapes for games and film and experimentation with audio/visual technology. Students will be encouraged to experiment with modern modes of communication to create new sensory experiences for the audience. The course will foster creative communication using perspective, digital platforms and mixed media. It will examine how reality is documented and created and will also look at how individuals construct alternative realities within the world of gaming, advertising and social media.

This course is the ideal platform for a broad range of third-level courses in the humanities, film, game design, sound and music production, research, writing and broadcasting.

This one-year course will aim to offer students an introduction to the world of Augmented and Virtual Reality, providing students with the knowledge and skills to develop, design and evaluate immersive experiences with virtual, augmented and mixed reality technologies.The aim of this programme is to provide graduates with the knowledge, skills and competencies to design, build and evaluate immersive user experiences using virtual, augmented and mixed reality tools and technologies.

Robotic and automation solutions are revolutionising sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare and transport. This course is designed to equip learners with the specialist knowledge and wide range of hands-on practical skills at the cutting edge of instrumentation, robotics, process control and industrial automation in order to pursue a career in this dynamic and evolving field. 

Automation Engineering and Robotics involves the design, development and implementation of sensor and robotic systems. At its core is the combination of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering with computer technology, namely, mechatronics.

Particular emphasis is placed on course content that prepares students with the required blend of business and technical aspects to enable them achieve successful and rewarding careers within the automotive industry.

The mixture of management, financial, legal and strategic analysis modules in particular will provide graduates with opportunities for rapid career advancement. The programme is delivered through a combination of theory and practical oriented modules.

This programme is a mix of engineering, technological and management skills specifically related to the automotive engineering and transport management sectors.

This is a three year full time level 7 ordinary degree programme which prepares students for a career in the automotive industry.  The course is tailored to prepare graduates to perform in such an environment by ensuring that the principles and applications of management, business and technology are covered.

The course has a unique combination of theoretical and applied areas of study in conjunction with relevant business subjects. This course aims to provide the graduate with the practical, analytical, managerial, and interpersonal skills necessary for a successful career within the automotive industry.

The course is taught through a combination of lectures, practical work and assignments related to practical aspects, e.g. motor vehicle technology, garage practice, automobile electronics, advanced diagnostics, CAD/vehicle design, etc.

The QQI Level 5 Certificate in Aviation Finance offers an opportunity for those wishing to develop their skills in the Aviation Leasing Sector. This course will have an emphasis on aircraft and airline finance and leasing. The Certificate in Aviation Finance will give learners the opportunity to learn new skills with an emphasis on the acquisition and financing of aircraft as well as developing an understanding of the sector. Successful graduates have progressed on to Aviation Management with Finance in DCU (DC 117).

This course will prepare you for a career in the aviation industry. You’ll learn about the principles of flight, the information systems integral to aviation/aircraft operations, and the complex inter-relationships in the various sub-sectors of the industry. 

The main focus of the BA year is a Major Project. Three of the five modules feed into what is essentially a practical Thesis project. It is self-directed work, chosen by the student according to his/her interests and strengths. It is planned, researched, developed and produced with the guidance of tutors who are industry professionals. The students are encouraged to specialise in an animation related discipline of their choice. The college has facilities and software to support these major projects. Other modules include Employability in the Creative Industries, and Professional Animation project: this is a project with an outside client.

The B.A. in Applied Policing is the Foundation Programme for Garda Trainees. This Training Programme is delivered over 104 weeks leading to a B.A. in Applied Policing. The initial period of 34 weeks including two weeks annual leave takes place at The Garda College. Subsequent training takes place predominantly in selected Garda Divisions.

The DCU Bachelor of Arts Single Module (BASM) study option allows student to undertake study at degree level (level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications) for personal enjoyment or continual professional development (CPD) without having to commit to study towards an exit award.

Of specific interest to many Bachelor of Arts Single Module (BASM) students is that the History, Literature and Sociology modules are recognised by the Teaching Council of Ireland for general registration in relation to the (post-primary level) teaching of History, English and CSPE respectively.
