Students must complete work experience in a Nursing/Care facility. Prior to engaging in practical Work Experience, students will complete both People Moving & Handling and PHECC First Aid Responder (FAR) Courses.

This BSc (Honours) in Nutrition and Health Science course is a unique interfacial degree with an equal emphasis on both nutrition and health science. This course provides an approach to nutrition that is based on the scientific and academic principles of biology, biochemistry, social and public health aspects of human nutrition, as well as encompassing emerging issues such as biotechnology, food sustainability and security. This one-year full time The Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Science course is aimed at students who want to develop their knowledge of Nutrition, Dietetics, Health & Food Science. Students are introduced to the areas of Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Processing and Biology. This course equips the learner with vocational skills and knowledge to acquire the theory, principles and techniques underpinning the science of dietetics, food and health. It also allows students to progress to a variety of third-level courses in the science and nutrition areas throughout Ireland. This is a full-time one-year course and runs from September to May.

The Bachelor of Science (BSc) programme is aimed at students with a strong interest in food, nutrition and food product development as well as students who are interested in developing a diverse range of entrepreneurial skills and business acumen. The BSc seeks to prepare students for the challenges of producing foods safe for human consumption, developing more nutritious, healthier food options for dynamic, ever-changing markets.
