This course will enable students to locate, identify and carry out routine maintenance on a variety of mechanical and electrical components, as well as develop life skills including effective communication techniques, teamwork and independent learning.

This General Learning Programme aims to provide a foundation in subjects which students may wish to study at Third Level. It also introduces students to methods of study, writing skills and research skills that are required for successful participation in Third Level education. While graduates of this course may apply to any Third Level Institute, Plunket College of Further Education is a partner to the Trinity Access Programme (TAP). Our students visit Trinity College to engage in a number of “taster activities” throughout the academic year, including library visits, a student shadowing day and attendance at a number of lectures.

This one year course aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop essential knowledge and practical skills to work in the rapidly growing Construction and Renewable Energy sector who wish to seek entry to Apprenticeships / SOLAS (FAS) / Further Training. It also prepares students for progression to third-level. It gives students a taste of all the main construction trades including carpentry & joinery and building construction. Students will also gain significant on-site experience with some of the largest construction companies in the area.

Students will study Food Science and Technology, Menu Planning and Applied Nutrition, Menu Design, Word Processing and Personal Effectiveness. Students will gain a knowledge and understanding of Meal Service and the procedures of service. Students are given the opportunity to identify the components of a computer and learn how they work. As part of this course, students will be required to assemble and disassemble a personal computer (PC), troubleshoot PC hardware and software problems, and build and maintain a peer-to-peer local area network. This course would suit applicants with a passion for working with animals, a willingness to work hard and an interest in biology. This ten-week intermediate course advances the skills established in Screen Acting - Level 1, focusing on refined performance techniques for film and television. Students will deepen their technical proficiency by working closely with camera equipment and gaining a professional understanding of various crew roles and set dynamics.

This TV Presenting & Film Production PLC course provides students with the advanced knowledge and skills to pursue careers in various areas of TV and Film production and presenting. Students will explore all aspects of Film and Television giving them a knowledge of both behind and in front of the camera. Students will have the opportunity to explore and develop the art of TV Presenting, Interviewing, Autocue and Links to camera as well as Producing, Directing and Editing. Students will have access to professional camera and editing equipment and to assist them in producing a showreel.

The course will develop the artistic and technical skills that are involved in creating characters, stories and worlds using advanced digital technologies. Students will learn the fundamentals of digital design, storytelling, animation principles as well as how to build, light and compose animation sequences and stories.

This course is suitable for those who wish to pursue a career in the Animation industry, but who may not have the drawing skills required to pursue a more-traditional Animation course.
