The purpose of this award is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence in a range of sports, recreation and exercise activities to work independently and under supervision in a variety of sports related contexts and or to progress to higher education and training.

This is a broad Sports and Leisure course that will enable students to demonstrate and apply a range of skills and knowledge in a variety of Sports and Recreation contexts. Students will acquire the knowledge and practical skills required to assist in the running of a Sports and Leisure Facility. 

Students will be provided with a basic understanding of Recreation theory and health concepts in a variety of subject areas.

This course focuses on the prevention, assessment and diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries related to physical activities. 

Students who undertake this one-year course in Pre-Physiotherapy studies will gain an understanding of the principles and practices of rehabilitation and an insight into how to assess and treat clients whose movement is restricted by illness, injury, disability or age. Students will gain the skills needed by the HSE to work in the healthcare sector, which will help them to understand therapy programmes and support clients in restoring or improving their mobility.

Practical classes will be timetabled on-site at Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena and the National gymnastics Training Centre at Sports Campus Ireland Campus.

This is a 2-year full-time diploma PLC course in Sport, Exercise, Health, Nutrition, Rehabilitation and Sports Psychology. It offers you the opportunity to study for a diploma in all areas of Sports Science. This course can act as a standalone qualification, or it can act as an access course where it can offer you an excellent opportunity to progress to one of our degree link courses. In some cases, advanced entry may be possible.

This course aims to provide students with the skill and knowledge necessary for employment in the Sports and Leisure industry. It consists of both practical and theoretical training in various aspects of Sports Studies and Body massage. The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to maintain and repair a range of sports surfaces. On completion of the programme participants will be confident in undertaking a range of maintenance requirements including scarifying, feeding, mowing, carrying out a variety of repair activities including divotting, patching and or plugging. They will be able to plan, prepare and set out areas for a range of sporting activities while understanding the importance of health and safety in a sports surface sector.

This BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy, gives you the opportunity to qualify and work as a professional sports therapist with the option to progress to a master’s in Physiotherapy and become a qualified physiotherapist.

This course aims to provide learners with the skill necessary to work in the sports and recreation/sports therapy industries. Sports therapists provide a valuable service to the sports industry, specialising in the prevention and management of soft tissue injuries through manual massage techniques and electrical treatments. This course will also provide learners with the theoretical and practical knowledge to work in the fitness industry or to study at a higher level.

This module will equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to manage all of the factors that influence the development, quality & maintenance of sports turf in Ireland.
