Architectural Technology is an immersive, full-time course, which will prepare you for practice and requires attendance five days a week. CAD technology is used to create graphics and make calculations needed in the production of drawings, three-dimensional simulations, models and other design work. The Architectural Technology and Design course (Year 1) enables students to gain a knowledge of architectural design and the built environment, while considering construction materials and the needs of clients. Students gain hands- on experience of the latest technologies in use in the architectural industry, which includes Autodesk software such as Autocad and Revit.

This fully funded Traineeship provides a variety of modules which relate to the design/ drawing/CAD/IT skills required within the construction sector. This course is suitable for learners who wish to further their career in this industry and will enable them to make an immediate contribution in the workplace.

The BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology and Management course is based on a modular structure across two semesters and is available as a four year sandwich course (although students with the necessary industrial experience may be exempted from placement).

The course is also available in a part-time mode of study which involves students taking the course over five years (there is no placement year), and attending and completing all modules alongside the full-time students. The course leads to the degree of Bachelor of Science with Honors in Architectural Technology and Management.

The DPP (Diploma in Professional Practice) is awarded on successful completion of an approved industrial placement year.

Architectural Technologists work with Architects and Engineers to produce detailed building construction information. This one-year Higher National Certificate will cover construction fundamentals including Design, Materials, CAD, Surveying and Construction Technology. Studio work will be based on realistic construction projects from inception to completion. Using the latest software, the projects will be fully visualised. The learner will be expected to attend study trips to various buildings of interest.

The BA Hons in Architecture is a studio-based, full-time course delivered over three academic years. There is an exit qualification of an Associated Bachelors (AB) after successful completion of two academic years, with a further one academic year for BA Hons completion.
