The Certificate in Speculative Design Futures is a new course suitable for designers and creatives practitioners from all disciplines interested in designing a positive future for all (people and planet).

The course will equip you with futures thinking literacy and the practical speculative design skills needed to engage critically with the uncertainty and complexity of wicked problems that exist in our world today.

This one-year programme has been designed to provide learners with the understanding, knowledge, skills and competence to pursue a career as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant. These skills can be applied to a wide range of sectors catering for those who have difficulties with communication including eating and swallowing.

This course provides the learners with the knowledge, skills and competence to pursue a career as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant.

Speech and language therapists enable people with communication disorders and swallowing disorders to achieve their maximum potential. They are involved in assessing clients’ communication and swallowing difficulties, and developing treatment programmes to meet their specific needs. They work closely with other members of the team, such as nurses, doctors, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, teachers, etc, and work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, primary care health centres and schools. 

This undergraduate degree is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become a competent, reflective, and evidence-based practitioner in the field of speech and language therapy.

The BSc Speech and Language Therapy provides the knowledge, skills and confidence for a career that will improve the lives of children and adults with communication disorders or swallowing difficulties. Over the four years of the course, you will gain specialist knowledge  for a rewarding career, as well as general skills in communication, problem-solving and teamwork. 

Learners will develop an awareness of how to assist the Speech and Language Therapist to help their patients manage challenges in relation to speech, language, voice, and swallowing difficulties. They will also acquire the relevant theoretical and practical skills, and gain work experience in a healthcare setting.

This course provides the learners with the knowledge, skills and competence to pursue a career as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant. This blended learning course is delivered two days online and two days on campus with occasional scheduled-on campus workshops.

The learner will gain knowledge and skills that can be applied to a wide range of speech and language therapy sectors catering for people of all ages who have difficulties with communication including eating and swallowing.  Students will also develop an understanding of how to assist Speech and Language Therapists and families to best manage clients’ challenges in relation to voice, feeding and speaking difficulties.

This QQI level 5 qualification enables graduates to work as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant as per the HSE appointed grade. Alternatively, learners can use the programme as a foundation for further study in health care, speech and language and social care.

This programme has been designed to cater for those who wish to pursue a career in the sport, exercise and health industries, both in Ireland and abroad. The delivery is based on the combination of key theories with applied research and practical skills to afford graduates appropriate knowledge, skills and competencies to work as professionals in a wide range of settings in the sport, leisure and business industry.

Our Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Sports & Exercise with degree award options: Performance and Wellbeing or Physical Education, is a four year programme that combines your passion for sports with a successful career progress through the course.  

The multidisciplinary nature of the BSc in Sport & Exercise Management equips students with skills in areas such as management, marketing, event planning, human resources, economics and finance, sports development and coaching. These underpin the structure and governance of sport, health and exercise programmes today.

You will study several management subjects and techniques over the course of three years, designed to provide you with the skills to work within a wide range of sports management areas. You will learn basic principles in first year which will be refined and developed in second and third year.

Sport and Exercise Science develops an understanding of the human body’s response to exercise, how to maximise performance in athletes, the benefits of physical activity for health, and the psychological and sociological factors influencing sport and exercise.

This course incorporates the core areas of biomechanics, physiology and psychology, and students
are encouraged to develop an interdisciplinary approach to solving real-world problems in sport and exercise.

The programme prepares graduates to work in the growing areas of sport performance and health-related exercise science.
On this course, you will learn how to apply scientific principles in order to understand and enhance sport and exercise performance, health and well-being. It will prepare you to work in the world of sport, helping athletes and teams achieve optimum performance.  It will also prepare you to work the health sector, helping individuals to manage or prevent lifestyle-related chronic diseases through training and physical activity.

This programme will give you an in- depth knowledge and understanding of the key elements of sport, exercise, health and physical activity from the perspective of the sciences. Throughout the programme, you will study the science behind safe participation and effective performance in physical activity and sport.

The application of science plays a major role in the preparation of the modern sports performer. The effects of training methods on the physiological systems of the body for improving strength, speed, endurance, skill and how to perform under stress are constantly being investigated and improved upon by sport scientists.

This course gives students the academic, physical, technical, tactical & psychological knowledge necessary for the demands as a student athlete with particular emphasis on soccer coaching. In addition it offers a broad introduction to Sport, Exercise and Recreation studies, providing students with the necessary skills to take up employment at entry level in the leisure industry. Students will improve their knowledge, competence and understanding of physical fitness and sport both practically and theoretically.

This Advanced Certificate course is for those who have already successfully completed a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Physiotherapy Assistant, Level 5 Certificate in Sport, Recreation and Exercise or equivalent. This course is designed to support both academic advancement and immediate career entry. It prepares learners for progression to Further and Higher Education while also equipping those who wish to enter the workforce directly with the necessary skills.

The programme involves practical and theoretical sport studies and sports massage techniques to prepare learners for a career in sports coaching, personal training, physiotherapy, and sports therapy.
