The BComm (Accounting) degree at University of Galway combines a broad-based business education with the advantage of a specialized programme for those interested in a career in accounting or a related discipline. Students on the programme particularly like the small class size, which really helps them to settle in. This programme offers significant exemptions from professional accounting examinations.

The BComm in International Hotel Management at Shannon College incorporates a full Commerce Degree with an emphasis on hospitality, tourism and the development of communication and leadership skills. Students have the opportunity to study on two universities campuses and experience 21 months of paid international work placement as part of this exciting degree programme.  

Commerce International (BCIT) combines a flexible business education from Ireland’s leading business school with the linguistic skills and cultural understanding to succeed in the exciting world of international business. Students of the BCIT course are well-grounded in the theory and practice of business management and equipped to understand and comment critically on business issues.

To achieve a truly global perspective on business, it is necessary to immerse yourself in the culture and not just learn the vocabulary. As part of the course, BCIT students will also take a range of literature and culture modules from the UCD School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics.

Some examples of modules currently on offer include French New Wave Cinema, Surrealism in Spain and Mexico, Grimm’s Tales, Italian Cinema and Society.

Led by the Irish Hotels Federation, this two-year apprenticeship combines practical on-the-job training (3–4 days per week) with academic off-the-job learning (1–2 days per week). Engineers can be found in many fields from high-tech industry and medicine to financial services, energy aware technologies and biotechnology. If unsure of which strand of engineering is for you this course helps you to choose while studying the fundamentals of engineering. 

You’ll spend first year building a strong engineering foundation across maths, materials engineering and basic sciences, while also building skills like logical and critical thinking. 

Then you’ll specialise in second year, going on to a challenging, cutting-edge course where you’ll build real expertise, whether that’s in mechatronics or sustainability engineering. Through lectures, labs, individual and group work, you’ll get hands-on experience with modern manufacturing processes, design, simulation and analysis procedures, and get skilled in programming and electronics. 

The BA in Communications is a three-year full-time programme which aims to give learners an introduction to communications platforms including photography, radio, journalism, and TV. The course involves both practical and academic projects and gives students the chance to work in real journalistic situations over the course of six semesters.
