This unique program offers two specialized pathways for traditional music enthusiasts. Stream 1 focuses on performance and musicianship, allowing instrumentalists and singers to deepen their understanding of the Irish tradition while mastering music technology. A highlight of the second year is the opportunity for students to record and produce their own CD using professional college facilities. Stream 2 is a dedicated Traineeship in Instrument Making, Repair, and Maintenance, delivered in conjunction with Na Piobairí Uilleann. This hands-on stream allows students to craft iconic instruments, including the harp, mandolin, uilleann pipes, whistle, and flute.

The University offers a comprehensive range of programmes in Irish in both part-time and full-time mode at a number of centres which serve a diverse constituency of students. The breadth of Irish language provision at Ulster and the practice amongst staff and students of the School of Irish Language and Literature of using Irish as a primary medium of communication reflects the University's strong commitment to cultural and linguistic diversity within Northern Ireland.

The University's Irish programmes play a vital role in preserving, sustaining and celebrating Ireland's Gaelic literary and linguistic heritage as well as serving the demands of the Irish language sector within the local and international job market. At a personal level our programmes also fulfil the needs of individuals who wish to acquire the necessary competence to fully participate in the Irish language community as confident and independent users of the language.

Within the Modern Languages programme you study two modern European languages to degree level.  You can choose between French, German, Irish, Italian, Russian and Spanish. Apart from French and Irish all languages can be studied from both advanced and beginners level. Our programmes will give you the opportunity for full immersion into the languages and cultures that you study.

They will enable you to acquire a high level of language competence and fluency, combined with an in-depth understanding of the main cultures and societies in which these languages are spoken.

Tugtar ‘Nua-Ghaeilge’ ar an teanga ón mbliain 1200 go dtí an lá atá inniu ann. Sa chúrsa seo léitear litríocht ó gach cuid den tréimhse agus déantar staidéar ar fhorás na teanga lena linn. Déantar staidéar speisialta freisin ar Ghaeilge an lae inniu agus ar Ghaeilge na hAlban.

The programme provides students with the knowledge, skills and competencies in IT infrastructure and cybersecurity and is designed around five key strategic pillars; Cyber Security, Networking, Cloud Computing Technologies, Automation, and IT Management. In year 3, work placement begins in January.

The IT Support Discovery program is a concentrated, eight-week full-time immersive experience designed for students and career changers exploring a future in the technology sector. This "taster" course provides a practical introduction to the fundamental pillars of IT maintenance, troubleshooting, and user assistance. Participants engage with real-world scenarios, learning to diagnose hardware issues, navigate operating systems, and manage basic network configurations. 

This comprehensive training program is specifically engineered to provide learners with globally recognized accreditations from CompTIA and Microsoft. The curriculum is meticulously updated to reflect the evolving tech landscape, focusing on the four critical pillars of modern IT infrastructure: core hardware, operating systems, networking, and cloud computing. Students will master the technical skills required to deploy, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise-level systems while gaining proficiency in cloud-based environments.

In this course, you study Italy’s language as well as its rich history and culture: literature, cinema, art, even opera. You do not need to have studied Italian before: most students of Italian start as beginners. Having fluent Italian is extremely beneficial for the job market.
