This course gives you up-to-the minute skills and industry relevant training in the animation and visual effects sector. It will introduce you to the core principles of creative film making, animation and visual storytelling. Modules include drawing/character development, illustration, design, character modelling, animation principles, puppet/set design, stop motion, digital graphics, visual effects, motion graphics, compositing, 2D/3D modelling, rigging, texturing, lighting, photography and digital cinematography.

The course also provides training in video, audio recording, research and design skills. As you progress through the programme, you develop particular specialisations based on your interests and skills. In third year, you get invaluable experience by taking a 3-6 month internship with an animation, visual effects or digital media company. Alternatively, you can start your own freelance animation project.

The aim of this blended online certificate programme is to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities of learners in the theory and practice of applied addiction studies and community development.

The purpose of the programme is to build the capacity of community drugs workers and those working and volunteering in the wider community within an addiction context.

This two year course will provide approximately 400 hours of actual laboratory experience, a valuable level of experience for potential employers. Applied Biosciences is the study of complex biological systems, and how they work, for example how bacteria generate energy from the breakdown of sugars. Applied Biosciences also involves the use of living organisms and bioprocesses in engineering, technology, medicine and agriculture – in other words, the application of scientific and technical advances in the life sciences to develop commercial products.

In CR 006 Applied Biosciences, Years 1 and 2 are common. Students will not be required to choose their preferred qualification (Food & Health Science or Applied Biosciences and Biotechnology) until the beginning of Year 3.

The Bachelor of Science in Applied Biosciences and Biotechnology meets the demands of biotechnology, food and pharmaceutical industries for technologists and analysts. In addition, the requirements of the services and research laboratories for staff trained in advanced biologically based analytical techniques are met by graduates of the course.

The Bachelor of Science in Food & Health Science meets the changing needs of the Food, Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries for technicians and analysts. Graduates are in great demand from multinational pharmaceutical companies, as well as the traditional employers in the food and drink sectors.

The Higher Certificate in Applied Construction Technology equips graduates with the skills and technical knowledge required to enter the construction industry at technician level. You will study a range of modules from Marine Biology research at home and abroad (e.g. Spain or Portugal) to Environmental Management and Biodiversity / Conservation. You will be studying an exciting mix of subjects including Marine Biology, studies of rivers and lakes, ecology and zoology.

Year one involves the study of a range of Science modules and year two focuses on Biology - the science of life. Biologists explore and learn how organisms are constructed and how they function.
